Tusind tak, DV!

I had found Restaurant Klubben online, and you are right, it does appear to be exactly what we seek -- I was just hoping for something closer to the other places we will be roaming :)

I will look into these other menus. Hadn't thought to look at menus in Tivoli for frikadeller -- we will definitely be going to Tivoli! :D It looks like also that sometimes the english translation is just calling them meatballs...so will keep that in mind.

Again, thank you!

Haha its funny because when we want tourist say something in Danish then its mostly Rødgrød med Fløde. Its a winner all the time. :D

Another one and its also hard for me to say if I'm drunk.

Fem flade flødeboller på et fladt flødebolle fad.

For some reason I always says flødebolle flad.

Its in a residential area called Kartoffelrækkerne so the restaurant offering isn´t that big.

As noted in another thread then Stægt Flæsk is the national dish and this restaurant claims to serve one of the best in Copenhagen.

But it seems you have to prebook.

But if you walk up to Dag Hammarskjölds Allé and Østerbrogade where you can lots of restaurants as this is the main streets in the Østerbro district.

Thank you

The most easy way is of course a taxi but then you are looking at 400 kroner for the trip.

For only 36 kroner per person you can take the Øresund train towards Nivå or Helsingør and get off at Østerport station.

From here you can taker the regular bus 26 to UNICEF, Færgehavn Nord or the special 26 cruise shuttle.

The cruise shuttle only departs from Sløjfen, its where it says "26 Holdeplads", the Øresundstog trains arrives at track 1 and 2.

We wll be arriving at the Oceankaj pier on a Saturday in May and will need to get to an apartment at Magistraede 7. There will be 4 adults with at least 8 large pieces of luggage. Can you advice us on the best transportation to our apartment?

The main concern we have is getting from the apartments at this location to the airport for an 8 AM flight. We probably will need to pre-arrange transportation, since the apartment does not help with arrangements for transportation. Can you advice us on the best way to get to the airport during early morning hours? Do you suggest a transfer company - have any recommendations?

Thank you so much for your suggestions.

Hi Danish Viking,

We are booked in a "boutique" hotel--the First Hotel Mayfair. It's said to be on the edge of the red-light district, but the district itself is not that bad -? Or is it?

We're used to big cities (NY, LA), so a little sleaze won't make us crazy, but will there be hookers plying their trade, drug deals being made, and opportunistic undifferentiated criminals in front of our hotel or on the same block?

It's very hard to gauge these things if you haven't been there.

Thanks,

Sylvia

More assistance Danish Viking. BTW, if everyone you helped bought you a beer, you would not need to buy a drink for the rest of your life. Your help is much appreciated.

We are debating whether to get the 48 hour Copenhagen Card. I have used the calculator to see if it makes sense, but the next question is, is it realistic to see the things we want to see in 48 hours?

These are the places we are looking at

Amalienborgmuseet

Canal Tours' Grand Tour of Copenhagen

House of Amber - Copenhagen Amber Museum

Københavns Museum

Nationalmuseet

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

Rosenborg Slot

Tivoli

First is our list doable and if not what you would pare from it?

Thanks again.

Any list of fav hotels not by the airport, best for walking around in town? I want to stay in town for a day or 2 before the flight, just 2 adults and no kids.

Jenn

http://www.tripadvisor.dk/Hotels-g189541-Copenhagen_Zealand-Hotels.html

From this list I would avoid these just because of the location to the city center.

Charlottehaven (Østerbro district)

Adina Apartment Hotel (Søndre Frihavn/Østerbro district)

AC Hotel Bella Sky (Ørestad district)

Tivoli Hotel (Kalvebod Brygge 15-20 minutes walk from Strøget)

Copenhagen Island (same as above)

Wake Up Copenhagen Carsten Niebuhrsgade (same as above)

The other Wake Up hotel in Borgergade is however very central.

Most activity like strip clubs, porn shops and hookers is concentrated on Istedgade and your hotel is on Helgolandsgade.

So if you use Vesterbrogade as your access point then there should be no problems.

But no guarantees :D

If you do Tivoli in the evening on the first day I think its looks doable, a little bit busy but not unreasonable.

I would probably group them this way.

Rosenborg Slot

I have spent the morning reading this thread. You are so kind to share your knowledge with everyone! We will be on the Star departing 7/14/15. I have determined that we will be sailing from Oceankaj but other than that I am lost lol.

We go to Europe every summer but this is the first time going North. Our plane arrives in CPH at 9:40am on the 13th and we sail at 5pm on the 14th so we really will have only a short window to sightsee.

I know that I would like to take the canal ride but am overwhelmed with the amount of other choices-especially knowing we are going to be tired from traveling so long.

Do you think Tivoli is a must do?

I like the idea of Nyhaven for a hotel but am lost again as to which to pick. Our budget is fairly open. If you had to pick the top three hotels that you could stay in without consideration to cost what would you select?

Thank you again for all your help!

Danish Viking – Your assistance to visitors to your city is overwhelming!

We are in Copenhagen (second time visitors) on Ocean Princess on July 1 from noon to 11 pm docked at Langelinie. Sounds like a lot of time except much of it is unuseable for museum entry etc. because of the hours. We want to do certain specific things in a leisurely way, but I’m having an impossible time trying to figure out how to coordinate the transportation efficiently. I am not a strong walker – don’t mind strolling, sitting, strolling, sitting – but don’t like having to walk longer distances in a hurry!

Want to do:

Walking around Nyhavn

Netto boat (their website says they have a pickup at Little Mermaid but when I read the actual time schedule, there is no such pickup location listed??)

Vor Helsers Kirke (including tower)

Glyptotek (since this closes at 6pm, we may have to eliminate, but we’ve been here before, doing it earlier doesn’t make sense from a routing standpoint)

Tivoli

How to accomplish (areas of concern are in parentheses):

Bus 26 to Nyhavn, do the Nyhavn walk & Netto boat (is there access to an ATM at Langelinie to get Danish currency – I’m sure I could find an ATM near Nyhavn but we need to get there first so need currency at Langelinie!)

(getting from Nyhavn to Vor Helsers Kirke)

(getting from Vor Helsers Kirke to Glyptotek)

Walk from Glyptotek to Tivoli

Cab back to ship, as I believe bus 26 will have stopped.

I thought the Harbor Bus might be an option for at least part of this route.

Thank you in advance for your patient assistance to all of us.:D

My personal top 3 for the Nyhavn area would be something like this.

Wake Up Borgergade (budget)

Bethel (medium price)

D'Angleterre (luxury)

D'Angleterre is the best hotel in Copenhagen and presumably also in Scandinavia and the Baltics so if you have the money you should definitely try this one out.

Honorable mentions goes to Admiral and Scandic Front.

There are a a good variety of hotels in this area of town, but they are small hotels with few rooms so if you don't like the large hotels then you have a few options here as well.

That is interesting as I had narrowed my choices down to the Admiral and D'Angleterre. I am going to discuss it with my husband this weekend. I was leaning towards the Admiral. I will see what his thoughts are. Thank you for your guidence! You really are a treasure!

Eurodam is docked at Oceankaj

The easiest way is to cath bus 26 (direction Færgehavn Nord, UNICEF) from either Trommesalen (06 and 26 past the hour) or København H

http://www.moviatrafik.dk/dinrejse/koreplaner/Buslinje/afgangstider/Pages/AfgangsTider.aspx?line_direction_gid=9014200002610000&stop_gid=9025200000007915

Or from the central station (07 and 27 past the hour)

http://www.moviatrafik.dk/dinrejse/koreplaner/Buslinje/afgangstider/Pages/AfgangsTider.aspx?line_direction_gid=9014200002610000&stop_gid=9025200000001152

The reason why I mention the Trommesalen bus stop is that its located close to many of the hotels on Vesterbro.

https://www.google.dk/maps/place/Trommesalen/@55.673264,12.560373,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x4652530c980b4bb7:0xe34b76918c83c6ee

Another quicker solution is to cath any northbound train to Østerport and either cath bus 26 for UNICEF or take the dedicated cruise shuttle.

Regional trains mostly departs from track 1-4 and S-trains from track 9-10.

THe location of the Sløjfen bus stop at Østerport

https://www.google.dk/maps/place/%C3%98sterport+St.,+Sl%C3%B8jfen/@55.693549,12.591225,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x465252e0509b6503:0x67f1b40f512f1420

Here the normal bus departs at 30 and 50 past the hour.

The cruise shuttle doesn´t have any dedicated timetable but goes between 08:00 and 16:00 so its just to wait. :D

Hi Danish Viking,

We, group of 5, plan to stay at Urban House, and will be on Ms Eurodam May 8, back to Copenhagen May 19/20. Our group has 3 seniors (75+), still walk freely. However I am concerned about walking from Unicef bus #26 stop to the terminal.

1. Do you know if either bus #26 or shuttle bus #26 stop right at Terminal1/2/3?

2. Which route you recommend us to take? Train to Osterport and take shuttle bus #26 or take city bus #26?

3. Since City Pass is not sold in Terminal, could we buy the 1-day City Pass ahead on May 8, but not using it until May 19/20?

Netto Bådene does indeed pick up passengers from the little mermaid, there will be a clock that shows the next departure.

Sorry no ATMs near Langeliniekaj but at the nearby Østerport station there is.

Getting to Hvor Frelsers Kirke church:

From Nyhavn you just take the metro from Kongens Nytorv towards Vestamager or Lufthavnen and get off at Christianshavn.

https://www.google.dk/maps/dir/Vor+Frelsers+Kirke,+Sankt+Ann%C3%A6+Gade,+K%C3%B8benhavn/Christianshavn+St.+(Metro)/@55.6725629,12.5913674,18z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x46525339463aedc9:0xc11801eab74fb42b!2m2!1d12.59421!2d55.672939!1m5!1m1!1s0x4652533edabd88cd:0x34c2f0b3c2bf1d88!2m2!1d12.591385!2d55.672054!3e2

From Christianshavn you take the bus 2A towards Tingbjerg, Gavlhusvej and 9A towards Glostrup and get off at Glyptoteket.

If you decide for Tivoli instead just take it one stop further for the central station/tivoli stop.

Bus 26 goes on onto midnight but stops at Indiakaj at the bottom of the pier.

It departs at 17, 37 and 57 past the hour from the town hall square and takes 17 minutes.

Tivoli is located in the top left corner and you will exit the main gate from Vesterbrogade.

The regular bus 26 stops near terminal 1 but the shuttle stops at each terminal.

But Eurodam is the only ship in port so I´m guessing its docked at terminal 1.

I can´t remember if the city pass is time stamped but else you can buy it on your phone.

Danish Viking, I'm looking at your Google map street view of the Slojfen bus stop at Osterport. Am I correct that it is around on the side of the station? And then there is a different bus stop out front of the station? Just don't want to be waiting at the wrong stop. Thanks for all your help.

Hello Danish Viking,

You were quite helpful in recommending that we contract a larger taxi/van for 4 people with luggage to go to the pier from downtown and I've noted the taxi companies you mentioned here.

There will be 13,000 people boarding ships the day we are leaving. Do you think I should book a larger taxi before I leave the States? Is that even done? Would I have any luck without being able to speak Danish?

We will arrive Thursday into Copenhagen and leave on Saturday. You mentioned just having the hotel call for one. Do you think if we booked as soon as we arrived we would be okay.

Thanking you in advance for your wonderful helpfulness on this board
