BurtonRiderT6 Posted December 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2014 I've heard that other ports have the full body scanners like TSA uses, I'm wondering if this is true at the Port of Miami. Anyone heard anything?
Langley Cruisers Posted December 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2014 What is the source of your information? I have never seen a full body scanner outside of an airport. No pier we've ever embarked from had them.

Anyone heard anything? That wouldn't make any sense and would slow down boarding by hours.
Capt_BJ Posted December 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2014 1. TSA has nothing to do with cruises ... they are 'air travel' 2. At an airport, many gates and usually airlines are handled by one security check point ... there is a funnel. Not so at cruise terminals; one terminal one entry point. Each terminal/gate needs its own equipment .... I'm gonna say don't think so on this one . . .
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 23, 2014 I have not yet gone through a full body scanner at any Port of Call in or outside the USA. Keith
TruckerDave Posted December 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 23, 2014 The title of this thread is misleading. There should be at least a question mark at the end to make it a question, it looks like it is a statement right now.
Langley Cruisers Posted December 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 23, 2014 I'm still waiting for OP to come back and clarify/elaborate. He states "that other ports have the full body scanners like TSA uses"... I mean, did he hear this from a friend? Someone who was pulling his leg? It's simply not true. This is how rumors get started. ;) .
Brighton Line Posted December 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 23, 2014 1. TSA has nothing to do with cruises ... they are 'air travel'. . . That is incorrect. TSA in NYC is used at subway entrances as well as at Penn Station and Amtrak. TSA always works with NYCPD or Amtrak Police but they are there in their blue uniform with hand chemical "sniffers" or scanners. Though a Port is not a "Transportation Hub" Expanding to Ports is not that impossible. Sure the US ports I've been too have yet to see a TSA agent or anything other than xray and magnetometers. FWIW Transportation Security Administration’s Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response squads — VIPR teams for short — assigned to perform random security sweeps to prevent terrorist attacks at transportation hubs across the United States.
