6rugrats Posted January 26, 2015 #29 Share Posted January 26, 2015 Is this on part of a public beach where we could go for an hour or two to swim? Or is it a private beach owned by the restaurant? There are no private beaches on Aruba.
garagesalegran Posted January 27, 2015 #30 Share Posted January 27, 2015 Arubalisa, how far is it from the entrance to De Palm Pier to the beach? Thanks! :)

crazyboutdisney Posted January 28, 2015 #32 Share Posted January 28, 2015 We are heading to Palm Beach when we are in Aruba. I had read on someones review that a great place to rent chairs from is Marcels Watersports. If we are dropped off at DePalm Pier will we be close to this? I believe it is by the Hyatt? Would that be where you would suggest getting of at? (we are riding the bus) I am little confused on distance between all of these places
Arubalisa Posted January 28, 2015 Author #33 Share Posted January 28, 2015 There is an alley which runs from the street out towards the beach which runs between the Hyatt and the Occidental. http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=12.571136&lon=-70.045347&z=18&m=b I will add though that I haven't been down that walkway in a few years. At the worst you can take the walkway to De Palm Pier and then walk north on the concrete boardwalk to where you want to go. The "boardwalk" runs beachside almost the length of Palm Beach. canadarocks Posted January 28, 2015 #34 Share Posted January 28, 2015 I've been in email conversation with someone who works at Fun 4 Every 1 watersports. They're located near the Riu hotel to the left of De Palm Pier. She's said that they rent 2 chairs and an umbrella for $25, and they have multiple "water toys" as well. That's where we're heading when we're in Aruba in March. :)

danipani Posted January 28, 2015 #37 Share Posted January 28, 2015 Has anyone off a cruise gone to the Marriott Stellaris Resort for the day lately? i Went about 6 years ago and it was a nice spot, reasonable rentals, went to hotel restaurant. poleman88 Posted January 28, 2015 #38 Share Posted January 28, 2015 I know there has been some conversation about the 1 day all inclusive passes. I received an email from the Occidental saying the rate is $78.00 per adult for a day pass which includes, buffet breakfast and lunch, use of pool and facilities (no room) and all drinks. Sounds like a deal to me. Has anyone had any experience with this?

cruizinisthebest Posted January 29, 2015 #40 Share Posted January 29, 2015 If you want to splurge, go to DePalm Island for the day. Ideal for the 2 boys. Somewhat pricey but once you add up everything, if you go somewhere else and do it ala carte, the extra cost is worth it. This is exactly what I'm thinking. We have two kids. By the time you add the taxi ride, the chair rental, food and drink, and water activities, you've spent a good amount for 4 people. De Palm offers everything it seems plus a waterpark. I know it isn't huge, but my oldest doesn't like fast overwhelming slides to begin with. I think we will be fine there and don't mind the slight extra cost if everything is bundled up in one package. We don't dock until 1pm. I'm thinking beaches will be crowded by then; especially if they start shutting down around 6.

Thank you so much for all your information!!! Yeah, I would stick with the entrance to De Palm Pier. Like I said, I haven't been down the other in a while. I am sure it is safe, but I know for a fact that the one between the Riu and Radisson is WELL traveled. The bus should stop at the Radisson and the Riu. If in doubt, sit up front and ask the driver to give you a heads up when you arrive.

We're the only ship in port that day and it's a Monday, so we're going to take our chances. But the business is very highly rated on Trip Advisor. So it's good to know that they are an option for those who want to guarantee their spots.
Arubalisa Posted January 30, 2015 Author #45 Share Posted January 30, 2015 There are plenty of vendors on Palm Beach. Christmas week there were THREE vendors renting chaises and umbrellas and that was just on the beach at the Radisson. The Riu next door had a vendor as well. They are all along the beach. :)

Jeal Posted January 31, 2015 #47 Share Posted January 31, 2015 We were just there and there were tons of chairs available for rent. The vendors are now meeting you at the De Palm pier as soon as you get off the bus. All the vendors were charging the same - $20 for two chairs. carnivalman Posted February 18, 2015 #49 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Palm Beach is for you, there are all sorts of rentals and Jolly Pirates for snorkeling trips and such. we took public bus in Nov and went up to Malmok beach for snorkeling but had to walk back to Palm which took a lot of time. Between Palm and Eagle beach are the shops and restaurants. Moomba beach bar is the place to hang next to Marriott hotel. Moomba's is between the Marriott Surf Club (timeshare) and the Holiday Inn. The Marriott Stellaris Resort and Casino is 2 resorts north of the Surf Club.
jabcruiser Posted February 18, 2015 #50 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Thanks for all the great info, Arubalisa. But I have another question for you about the beaches. What do you suggest for a quiet beach for a couple? We don't want or need anything but couple chairs, some shade, few drinks and maybe a snack. Quiet and peaceful would be best as well as proximity to port. Will be there in March on a Friday. Any beaches that meet these criteria? Thanks, Jane
