10 days on the Royal, magnificent

Just spent 10 days on the Royal, eastern caribbean. This ship is magnificent. I found nothing I would change. We don't used the center core to move around so the lack of stairs above the 7th floor did not bother us.

Glad to know you enjoyed it. I was starting to wonder if I made a huge mistake. We're sailing on March 29, and on the Royal because we hadn't been to Grenada. All the talk about minuscule balconies, dreadful lifts and no center stairs is pretty depressing.

I wish I could find out some of the entrees, etc. anticipation is half the fun!

We had a balcony on the Lido deck. It was smaller then we have had before but we still enjoyed it.

The elevators were a little slow at times. Our cabin was forward, right near the elevators and we never missed not having access to center stairs.

The ship is beautiful, the crew is great and the food in the MDR is excellent. Even the buffet, which we rarely go to was good.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Go and enjoy! :)

I can't wait! In 4 weeks I'll be in Fort Lauderdale the night before we leave on her for the Eastern Caribbean as well. It looks like a great itinerary and I've only been to one of the ports before, and my boyfriend has been to none of them...glad to hear you liked it!

Yes, but we booked private ones. We figured we would book them in Barbados, St Lucia, and Antigua, and the rest we will play by ear. I will unfortunately have an assignment due for a course that week so one of the days we are in port with nothing planned will be spent searching out wifi to take a test.

Good to hear that you enjoyed your cruise on the Royal. We can't wait to be back on her for two cruises in 2015. Glad to know that food, service and the ship continue to be excellent. Just wish our 100 days to cruise day would hurry on by.

You must be easy to please.

The small balconies have driven us to an inside cabin IF we ever return to either the Royal or Regal. Paying that amount of money for a balcony that can only fit 2 people at a time is outrageous. Don't even talk about eating on the balcony.

The center elevator was always very slow at dinner time- frustrating at best.

Leave 10 minutes early to arrive on time from deck 8 to deck 5.

The Piazza is constantly noisy with music playing most of the time causing people having to shout to be heard.

The Promenade deck doesn't go all the way around.

Other than that there weren't any other problems.

We're eager for our Royal cruise as well and very pleased to read the comments! Since we're paying for the overall shipboard experience and there are only the two of us, I too have no concern with the balcony size (as long as I can sit, read a book, look at the beautiful sea and hear the swoosh of the waives against the ship I'm happy). Very interested in test-tasting the new Horizon Court. BTW, does anyone know if Trivia is in the Wheelhouse bar, or somewhere else with the new ship configuration?

If it's like Regal (and it is :D) then trivia is held in several venues. We attended in Club 6, and the Vista Lounge. Look at some of the posted Patters and you can see where else they have held it

My times you will have it in the Princess Live theater along with other live fun games.

There's enough room to sit (sideways) but you'll have to get up & move if you're sitting next to the door if the other person wants to get by.

Losing a foot of depth on the balcony in comparison to standard balconies on other Princess ships didn't affect our enjoyment. We even enjoyed the Ultimate Balcony Dinner sailing from Barcelona. We've previously enjoyed UBDs on a large Caribe deck balcony, a standard Grand-class balcony & even inside a balcony cabin due to inclement weather.

Trivia was usually in Club 6 adjacent to the Casino, but it was occasionally in Princess Live. Lots of trivia on both the Regal and Royal. We love the Royal and can't wait for our second cruise on her this spring. Food in Horizon Court was excellent, and we love the expansive layout as compared to the buffet on the Grand class ships.

We love her too....................did both the 10 day Eastern and Southern and a 7 day Eastern on her last year. Spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas on her. We're doing the Western Europe crossing on her April 25th. We love the crew. We've had a Caribe balcony on both the Crown and Caribbean and have to say that the loss of space on the Royal is not a deal breaker for us. It's nice to have the option of a Deluxe Balcony vs mini or regular. Midship elevators seem a little slow so we just avoid them if possible. We really enjoyed all the extra seating in the atrium and the expanded Horizon Court/Bistro. Can't wait to sail on her again!

This is my first post, guess I just had to get a little sentimental over the Royal.
