boxztrs Posted January 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2015 Does anyone know the brand name of the flavored salts used in the Crown Grill? They are the ones shown on the menus (i.e. Hawaiian charcoal, applewood, etc.). If you are currently on a Princess ship or planning to go on a ship in the future, please post a picture of one of the jars with brand name (or just post the brand name). The waiter showed us the jar, and I wrote it down but now can't find my note. Thank you for any help.

Hulagirl Posted January 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2015 We really like their salts also. They have so many products and their showroom is about 8 miles from where we live in Woodinville, WA, right in the heart of wine country. It is an interesting place to visit. We bought several different flavors of salts and some different sugars too.

It's funny, I was just on that site the other day because we want to order the applewood smoked salt which we discovered the last time we were in Crown Grill. RetiredNTraveling Posted January 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2015 Thanks for posting the links for the artisan salts! We really enjoy the variety and are looking forward to purchasing some in the near future!

Thrak Posted January 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I know many people are thrilled by the fancy salts offered in Crown Grill but I don't really need a ton of extra salt. Yes, it's cool and all but... (Maybe I'm just too plebeian to understand the allure of the exotic salt.)
shredie Posted January 21, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I know many people are thrilled by the fancy salts offered in Crown Grill but I don't really need a ton of extra salt. Yes, it's cool and all but... (Maybe I'm just too plebeian to understand the allure of the exotic salt.) LOL. :) I tasted all three of them and they tasted like salt! My palate is not sophisticated enough to detect the subtle (way subtle) differences, I guess.

critterchick Posted January 22, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 22, 2015 I ask to have my steak seasoned with one of the salts before it's cooked. Even if it's done right before cooking it seems to have a more intense flavor. Trader Joe's sells the Himalayan salt. I assume that it's from essentially the same source.:)
dmwnc1959 Posted January 23, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) As a side note and in comparison, when I cruised Allure of the Seas (as a B2B with Ruby Princess) and ate dinner at 150 Central Park, they offered up six different salts to sample or use. It was quite an interesting experience, especially when one of them smelled and tasted like the egg yolk from a boiled egg. 150 Central Park Edited January 23, 2015 by dmwnc1959
Rare geoherb Posted January 23, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 23, 2015 I'm another one who turned down the flavored salts. My food already had enough salt. Critterchick's idea of asking for one to be used before cooking her steak is a great one.

dmwnc1959 Posted January 23, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Thanks for the 'sulfur' info, I was trying to be polite and not say what it really smelled like!;) As for additional salt content on my food, I'm really glad I took the opportunity to sample the unique offerings, something I don't get to do in my everyday life. I really enjoyed the Black Lava salt most of all. :D
