gertieginsc Posted January 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2015 Right now I am on the port side - should I try to change? I am on Radiance of the Seas - 7514. Thanks, GertieginSC
Cruzaholic41 Posted January 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2015 NO!!!! Do not change. Port is the more desirable side on a southbound cruise. The views of the shoreline mountains are very majestic on that first sea day and on the day you approach Hubbard Glacier. One thing though - 7514 is on Starboard, not Port. Do you have your sides wrong, or your room number wrong? If you actually are in 7514, I recommend changing to Port.

CruiserBruce Posted January 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2015 because the scenery is all around you, and you aren't locked in your cabin. The best viewing actually from open decks.
Aquahound Posted January 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Yes, it does matter. In summertime Alaska, the daylight lasts long into the evening. Our views out our port side balcony on our southbound cruise were priceless. One of my fondest memories was gazing out at the 18,000 ft high Mt. Saint Elias as my wife was getting ready for dinner. Of course you're not always going to be in your room, but for those moments you are or for when you feel like retreating to your own balcony, it does make a difference. If booking a balcony and given the choice, yes, port side is much better when southbound. Edited January 29, 2015 by Aquahound
