rochelle_s Posted February 16, 2015 #51 Share Posted February 16, 2015 Quick follow up for the BA 2 nighter. Old perks in effect. Spa pass 2 ppl/2 days. Cigarettes. No changes but Christina said they would kick in on next cruise. Thanks for taking the time to report back. Did Christina elaborate on exactly what changes would be put in place? sjbdtz Posted February 16, 2015 #52 Share Posted February 16, 2015 Small points accumulation for table games note: Played Ultimate Texas Hold'em for 1 hour & 1 minute. Average bet $75. Trips bet $25. (All accurate. Pit boss showed me the screen where it's documented). Total points earned 138. Hope that helps people sort-out how tables are rated. Also, it's not discretionary. The pit boss might leave your high bet playing for a few minutes after you decrease it, but both what they've put into the system, and your bets themselves are on camera. The pit bosses need to be accurate to keep their jobs. Stephen .
Casino Comp Chick Posted February 16, 2015 #53 Share Posted February 16, 2015 Thanks for taking the time to report back. Did Christina elaborate on exactly what changes would be put in place? Rochelle We only discussed the spa credit of $150.00. I said I would have preferred that and she said it was kicking in after the 2 nighter. It was crazy busy in there so I didn't want to take up to much of her time.
LaCal Posted February 16, 2015 #54 Share Posted February 16, 2015 We Love Cagneys for Bfast n lunch and never have seen it full at all Sad they r taking this perk away On the bright side were in a suite this upcoming trip in March so will still enjoy using Cagneys On the downside our last cruise on the Star we lost a lot.(was ahead at one point $3,000) End Result. Down 😂😂Me-$5,000+ And DW-$3,000 We never ask for any comps but most times are treated to a specialty dinner or bottle of wine in the room but this time only a plate of cookies n cheese platter in the room Towards the end of the cruise I asked the Casino host if it was possible to get a comped meal in the specialty Chinese Benihana type place He looked on the computer n said Nope sorry can't help u. Not enough play or points I was floored .....were not whale players but I do have a avg $50 bet and played for 8-10 hours PER DAY during the whole cruise I knew each dealer by name as well as the pit bosses and had easily easily tipped out over $1,500 by weeks end He told me he'd look into it because he saw me in the casino each n every day so knew something was wrong Well I checked on the last day and he said he thought my play was going to someone else by mistake. *** I was thinking but to make matters worse it was never fixed I swore I'd never sail NCL AGAIN but alas was given a FREE NCL CRUISE via Harrahs so couldn't pass up on FREE What I will be doing differently this cruise though is each n every morning checking with the casino host what my points n play were the day before so this total screw up could never happen again Has this EVER happened to anyone else?? I can't see how it ever ever could happen in the first place unless he was just BSing me cause he didn't know why I wasnt tracked correctly
garycarla Posted February 16, 2015 #55 Share Posted February 16, 2015 As the tighten up and try to make more money, gamblers will walk. But, it appears they can get enough others to fill the slack. I have seen significant losses and marginal comps back. Taking away Cagney's is about as close to a deal breaker as anything. When we get ready to book later this Spring....it will be up to them what they give us and if we go. If not, time to just move along.
luvcruzing Posted February 18, 2015 #56 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I came off the Pearl on Friday. I had a letter in my cabin for a comped dinner from CAS and as a Platinum member. Nothing else. When I went to the casino, I asked about the breakfast in Cagney's, and the casino host told me no, that was under the old plan. I had no idea the new plan was already in effect. I assumed with everyone else that it would take effect on April 1st. I was so looking forward to breakfast in Cagney's. Since I'm not a spa person, I didn't think to ask about the spa pass until I saw the board listing the benefits for Golden. So, I went back to the desk and asked why I didn't receive the spa pass. She mumbled something - probably about the board not being updated. But, the next day the assistant host came up to me with two spa passes. If the new system was in place, why didn't I receive the spa credit? I would have treated myself to a massage. As it was, I tossed the spa passes. I also asked about the "VIP seating for select shows." She said that only applied to the newer ships. So, I agree with Rochelle. There's "very little additional benefit for being Golden." Your play in the casino may get you a better offer from CAS, but not necessarily. The cruise certificate issued by a land-based casino gets you a cruise and a drink card whether you gamble onboard or not.
GoAndHaveFun Posted February 18, 2015 #57 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I am curious...so what do VIP folks get now? I feel that such a move will ultimately alienate a lot of gamblers. I feel like if there's just 1 or 2 people total in one's party, they would rather go for balcony than a Haven room and then spend money in the casino. NLH Arizona Posted February 18, 2015 #58 Share Posted February 18, 2015 When I was not Golden (which I made on my last cruise), I was always comped a mini-suite, but upgraded to a aft penthouse for just a little more. I would guess that those that are Golden and VIP would certainly be comped a suite and then they would have access to Cagney's for breakfast and lunch. SuiteCruiser Posted February 18, 2015 #61 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I am Golden and have never been comped a suite. Rochelle I was once, but it was on the Sky for a 3 nighter. I'll lose my Golden status at the end of March because my last Epic cruise they tracked my play terribly. They said I lost 2.5K less than I did (I'm Canadian, I know how much USD I went through!) and they would only offer me an inside on my next Epic cruise. Crazy. I had 62 hours of play on that 7 day cruise with 3 port days.
Casino Comp Chick Posted February 18, 2015 #62 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I am Golden and have never been comped a suite. Rochelle Me either but I have received 4 comps since the beginning of the year (2 in the last 3 weeks). I will probably have to pass on them as I have 5 cruises booked and zero vacation time left for the 2015 & 2016.

I would guess that those that are Golden and VIP would certainly be comped a suite and then they would have access to Cagney's for breakfast and lunch. I'm VIP and have only been comped a suite once. I asked about that not long ago. They said it has to do with the ship I'm asking about, the length of the cruise, and how many other cruises I've taken that year. They said they can combine your past cruises for a better cabin but since I've always been comped a cruise against my last cruise they only have one cruise to use to comp me again. Therefore, I'm always comped a mini-suite. Harriet
goldmom Posted February 18, 2015 #64 Share Posted February 18, 2015 When I spoke to my CAS Host, he said that your player level doesn't really determine what they can offer as far as cabins. Your player level only determines what you are offered onboard. He said that what I'm offered as far as cabins is based on a lot of factors, play, amount of bet, win, loss, time in casino, etc. And also what he can offer depends on the cruise I'm looking at , how popular it is, how many nights, cabin availability. Anyway, that's what I was told, but with NCL and CAS you never know what story you're going to get! LOL!

Anyway, that's what I was told, but with NCL and CAS you never know what story you're going to get! LOL! Pretty much agree with this. Your level MIGHT be representative of your play, but not always. All casinos look at your average play and then attempt to figure out how much you will be "donating" on your next visit. If they can figure it out exactly, they can cover the cost of the cabin they are giving you. And, each cruise is different. If the cruise is selling well at RETAIL prices, they are less apt to give you a better cabin. If the cruise is not selling well, then they are more apt to offer you more. I have been on a call where I would get an oceanview on one cruise and a suite on another. It all depends.
Atlanta07 Posted February 18, 2015 #66 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I am Golden and have never been comped a suite. Rochelle Rochelle - First - I think we were just on another cruise together (maybe the Sky in January) - second, have you (and the others here) tried booking with a junket club? The comps through them seem to be better than going through the cruise line specifically. It doesn't make sense, but it is true. Thanks!

Atlanta07 It was the Getaway in September and we will be on the same ship again for the Canary Islands and Morocco. :) I don't know anything about junkets. If they are through land based casinos I doubt I would qualify as I rarely ever go to one. The last few years I have been going on about 5 cruises a year and lately those have been predominately NCL as CAS has been treating me quite well. Hard to pass up 'free'! Would be interesting to learn more about junkets though as you just never know what the future holds. Rochelle

I did see that we will be on the same one next year as well. That's great! If you are getting free cruises through CAS then you are great! We are doing the same through the junket. My point was that if you are playing and are not getting free cabins through CAS then you should switch to a junket and they would make sure that happens. Really the benefit of a junket is that your status can transfer from one cruise line to another based on the junket "vouching" for you. Other than that - you are good. Since you are usually sailing with NCL I'd expect that you are good too.
