A question for those who sailed Quantum.

I have sailed Quantum two time - and I will deffinately sail Quantum or Anthem again.

Here is my reviews from the two sailings:

12 Nt. Southern caribbean January 11, 2015

8 Nt Transatlantic Maiden Voyage, November 2, 2014

And Yes - I did like the Dynamic Dining options

... and the overall design of the ship.

Yes, I never doubted the quality of the Quantum of the Seas for one moment and believe that she is the best ship in the fleet with the best shows in the world, land or sea. I will however never consider booking an inaugural or any early sailing ever again and Royal Caribbean has a long way to go in order to earn my trust back. I blindly followed them at their word when they said to trust them based on their track record, and they did nothing but lie for months. That is completely unrelated to the ship though. The ship and crew were incredible. I've never wanted to be back on a ship after a vacation as much as this one, ironically I was saying the exact opposite throughout the entire first sailing on her.

My wife and I fell in love with Quantum after being aboard for ten minutes. She is our favorite new ship.

We found Quantum to be extremely elegant, streamlined. The choice of dining rooms was exciting and the food was delicious. We are booked aboard Anthem for an 8-day cruise next February and can hardly wait. :D

We are Diamond with Royal but have usually preferred Celebrity (are Elite members). However, Quantum was probably our favorite ship/experience. We enjoyed dynamic dining and thought the entertainment was great. The design of the ship is outstanding! Already booked Anthem.

We are also Diamond C&A. We thought the ship was very attractive and the food was very good but we would never cruise on it again. It lacked any personality and warmth. Perhaps the change in dining plans will change that, but we don't care enough to find out.

The entertainment on my cruise (12 Night - 1/11 to 1/23) was terrible! And that is a mild understatement! Out of 12 nights, we probably enjoyed 2. Cruise staff has no leadership from CD or AD and STRUGGLED to keep cruisers entertained after 7pm (failed miserably!). Cancelled our 12 Night Anthem cruise - went back to ships that seem to fit our likes and style better. Don't need all the bells and whistles to have an enjoyable cruise (most of them didn't work right anyway and the ones that did had waiting lines and high prices!) ;). We enjoy service, reasonable prices, stylish decor, attentive waitstaff, well run activities staff.

So glad that RCCL has so many ships, that way, everyone is happy with their choices.

We were on the same 1/11 cruise as clancy14 so obviously entertainment is very subjective. We had no complaints with the entertainment although the CD was not the best.

OceanCruise,

I REALLY am not trying to start (or finish) an argument about anyone's taste's about entertainment (or anything else) but in roughly seeing over 125 shows in my cruising history, I really thought that Sonic Odyssey had to be the WORST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN - E V E R !!!! There was no real music, no melody, no story, no flow, the costumes didn't fit the music, or each other's costumes on the stage for that matter! , there was no earthly sense to any of it. (Big brass drums, big bongos, a giant screeching harp and an electric violin -all playing away at the same time but to different tunes while dancers ran around in outfits that looked like horse silks from jousting pageants!!!). I've been to Broadway, the opera, off-Broadway, the Improv, stand up comedy etc and seen some great shows and some bad ones but this one was just the worst!

Oh well, to each his own! - Miriam

I am so happy to hear your opinion. We are also elite plus on Celebrity and are sailing the Quantum in April and the Oasis in June. We have loved Celebrity and are looking forward to trying the differences the RCCL offers.

I respect your opinion and can understand how some people might not like it. I am not sure there was supposed to be a plot for Sonic Odyssey--it was creative art/music --very innovative and talented musicians (sort of like Blue Man Group doesn't have a plot). However, we did think Starwater was a bit strange (but the performers were quite talented). We never liked the old cheesy production shows but many people loved them. We thought Momma Mia and Sonic Odyssey were the best shows we have seen on a ship. We all have different tastes in entertainment (and food).

Everyone's experience is different. We have sailed Quantum 3 times with more to come. We thought the food was the best we've had on RCCL in a long time. Many do not like Dynamic Dining, however we loved it. It's like you are on a floating hotel. We found shows to be excellent.

We agree that the casino smoke is not handled well.

Yes!! We loved it and definitely our favorite ship. We liked the dynamic dining options. We loved our junior suite, layout of the ship, seaplex, decor of the ship, just pretty much everything. We had no complaints at all about anything.

Having not cruised for 25 years we wanted to be on the biggest and or the best.

This ship checked all the boxes

Rip cord,

Dynamic dining

Friendly staff.

Bionic bar mixed my best drink on the ship

I am just a middle class guy wanting a great experience, great service and whiz bang new tech, I am not a diamond plus or pinnacle cruising guru but I know

All the regular stuff was here, trivia, love and marriage etc

Were some issues with not enough things to do during the day if you didn't want to nap or sin but will absolutely cruise Quantum class again. A little perplexed by the dynamic dining change coming, I think RCCL listened too much to the negative press instead of looking how to make it better.

Am sailing a Freedom class later this year for comparison

We just returned from the 2/2 sailing.

We have cruised many times on many different lines. Royal is not our favorite but liked what we read about Quantum so wanted to give it a try.

She is a beautiful ship. The shows were among the best we have ever seen, including Mama Mia (the best), Starwater, Sonic Odyssey, the comedian - Troy Thirdgill, and the entertainers. Jeff Traca was amazing. We have probably seen over 250 shows on various ships and I would rate the 6 shows on this cruise all among my favorite 15 shows. They were that good.

Food and Service were great. The room was super.

Unfortunately for us the bands were one dimensional, playing mostly Rock (Horizon) or Salsa or Salsa derivatives (the band in Boleros - strangely I never heard them play a Bolero). That is a personal preference sort of thing I guess. Rock and Salsa are OK, but we were on board for 11 nights and this got really old.

The only really big negative was DD. We did NOT like DD. Food and Service were among the best we have experienced, with a few rare exceptions. But this reservation system was anything but dynamic. We read all about the problems before we boarded and had reservations for each night before we boarded. But once we saw the daily compass we usually found conflicts and tried to change our reservations with mixed success. We tried walking up without reservations and contrary to many posts on this site we were turned away and told to come back in 2 hours when there might be some availability. We were regularly told we could not change our reservations because there was no availability at any time that night. The room TV was useless for working this issue. The Royal IQ app was very clumsy. There is no change function. You have to search each restaurant for availability then go in and cancel your existing reservation and then go back to the place with the availability and make your reservation, assuming status has not changed. Often I would then walk down to the restaurant and talk to the staff and they had better times than Royal IQ showed so I eventually stopped using the app and just kept walking down.

If you are a puzzle person this could be a lot of fun, but we are on vacation and this process is just frustrating and time consuming.

This DD process was a fairly common topic of discussion among the various people we met on the cruise and in my view over 80% of the comments were negative. I admit this could be a self-defining bias.

That being said, I didn't see anyone starving :)

And 270 is just a gorgeous facility. Exciting just to sit there and read.

Too funny. Guess we weren't hip enough to get the Earth Harp and the Starwater....whatever that was:) The Quantum wasn't our cup of tea either and we too cancelled our Anthem cruise as soon as we got back home and rebooked on the Liberty.

I have repeated this a couple of times. During our Q and A on quantum a member of the audience got up and took a poll of the audience. It was a 50 50 split. The people that complained were generally louder than those who didn't.

Can understand the frustration though, the royal IQ and the reservation system still didn't seem to have the bugs out. Biggest issue I see is no flexibility once things are booked. Each of the free dining rooms only hold 4-600
