Go to Afternoon Tea!

Works well: sandwiches to mimic lunch and then a lot of dessert!

I do that once in a while now. If there's no lectures going on during that time, it's a nice little lunch to hold me from a late breakfast to main dinner. It's a really pleasant respite.

But only one little dessert for a treat. ;)

Sounds as if you have a lot more willpower that I!

If we skip lunch and go to Tea we have: two sandwiches, one dessert square, two scones and one piece of pound cake. Each, of course.

Nothing more until 8 pm, unless, of course, we hit Happy Hour and then we have to have a couple of appetizers. Of course.

We've been know to skip dinner after too successful a Tea and Happy Hour combo!

"Doctor! Doctor! There's something terribly wrong! I'm not hungry!"

It's strange, but as I have gotten older, I just don't have the appetite I used to have. It has nothing to do with willpower. Put a piece of chocolate in front of me, and it is history in nothing flat.

Oh, I know...

We used to go to a really nice hotel that had a Chocolate Buffet Friday evenings. We had a lot of nice "meals" there, but now we can't do it justice at all!

What we love about longer cruises is that you can pace yourself!!

Yesssss! On a long cruise there's no rush to get that special treat, or delicious dinner or dessert you know you shouldn't have, because there will always be another opportunity.

It isn't as frenetic on so many levels.

Amen, sister Ruth! Amen!

For myself, on sea days I prefer to get up early and enjoy a leisurely breakfast ... then skip lunch, make sure I catch a nap in the afternoon, and enjoy late supper.

That is a great plan, one we actually do once in a while, but not often enough.

"Nap" is the key word!!

You guys are going to have a GREAT time on the Volendam!

Did I miss something? You didn't break it, did you!!??

Not broken, no. I have a torn Achilles tendon, and another tear further up the calf. I've been wearing a boot for a few weeks, and am supposed to stay off my feet.

With the weather such as it is, where would I go?

If I have to, I'll just wear the boot on the plane, since it's too big to try to pack.
