tamom Posted February 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2015 I'm having a really hard time packing for our cruise on Quantum this Friday. Can anyone tell me how warm or cool the venues are on the ship? I know it's climate controlled but do I need jackets, sweaters for dinner and shows? I'm freezing right now so can't even imagine getting into shorts or bathing suits!
CanadaRob Posted February 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2015 light/medium jacket and slacks if you want to walk around on deck at night on 1st or last night. I am follicly challenged and wore a toque to enjoy the last movie night! Inside temps ok generally.

I'm freezing right now so can't even imagine getting into shorts or bathing suits! I found it a bit chilly in some of the public areas - primarily two70 and some restaurants, due to air conditioning. But not very different from other caribbean cruises.Jjust in case - I'll recommend to bring a jackets/sweaters for dinner and shows.
nelblu Posted February 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2015 The inside public areas are temperature controlled and you could comfortably walk around in shorts and polo/tee shirts. The solarium and the inside pool area swim trunks, while the outside pool area you need sweatshirt and long pants until you get to the Fl border. However, on the Feb. 2 cruise it was so cold and windy the first and last full day that hardly anyone was at the pool.

surikatina Posted February 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I am usually always cold on cruise ships! However, except for 270, which was at times chilly, I found Quantum to be a very warm ship!
Merion_Mom Posted February 18, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I am never cold on a cruise ship. I long ago stopped packing a sweater or such "just in case." But there were a few places on the Quantum that were cool, besides being outside in February! In the casino, they seem to think that blasting the air conditioning = ventilation for the smoke. It doesn't work on the smoke, but it does make the casino rather cold!

It doesn't work on the smoke, but it does make the casino rather cold! I sailed on the same cruise and found the casino warm as many other places such as the esplanade, and I'm usually cold. Ps. What did you think of Captain's response to the question of the terrible creaking of the ship. He made it sound that the ship needs to settle, like a new house. I can agree with you on that one Merion_Mom, there were some really chilly areas and I noticed it a lot more when walking through the casino. scooter90 Posted February 21, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 21, 2015 Coastal Kitchen was FREEZING our first evening aboard (Feb. 13). We inquired about it and was told three engineers were "working on it". By the end of the week we were told by the Head Waiter that all the glass in the restaurant was making the room so cold the units could not keep the venue warm (thank the cold northeast weather for this). By the second day through last night (2/19), it was comfortable. However, when we left the restaurant last night they were telling passengers if they came up for breakfast before leaving the ship to "dress warm" as it was going to be very cold in NJ the next morning...and it was....1 degree when we arrived in Bayonne. I would bring a sweater or jacket, I've experience places where it was a little cool in the casino and on the Esplanade on certain days.
