Chips

We will be sailing on the Breeze in October and from what I can find there aren't any chips to go along with all that salsa at Blue Iguana. Is this true? What is Carnival thinking on this one? Chips and salsa is a favorite snack of ours and just goes with a burrito. How do people enjoy all the salsa offerings without chips? I'm thinking we'll be bringing a couple bags of chips onboard with us, has anyone done this?

They usually have chips (and salsa) at the regular burger buffet on Lido. Although I admit I've only sailed on ships so far that have not had the 2.0 upgrades - maybe the buffet I'm used to is different on a ship with the upgrades?

I agree! They really need chips but when I think about it...how would they serve them? It is on the lido deck and I am sure that there would be people taking HANDFULS of chips instead of using tongs. :eek::eek:

They no longer have the regular burger buffet on the ships with the 2.0 upgrades therefore no chips. I have not seen them at the buffet inside either.

Any of the ships that have the 2.0 w/ the Blue Iguana do not have chips ANYWHERE on the ship.:mad::mad:

 

I have read many posts of people that bring their own.

I would just think by the time they got them to their room, they would be left with a bag of crumbs.:confused:

 

I know JH questioned this on one of his Sunday quick fire questions and asked if they should offer them, but haven't heard anything since.

HAL has a tortilla chip/taco/burrito/Mexican/nacho buffet stand outside their hot dog/burger joint.

 

On CCL 2.0 no tortilla chips anywhere except in the MDR for specific appetizers. You can get potato chips with room service or at the late night snack bar (after 11:30 pm). You can get potato sticks at Guys Burgers anytime they are open. You can always buy chips/pringles in the ship Gift shop or bring them on-board yourself.

If you are taking a small cooler with you, put the chips in the cooler to bring on-board and they will be fine.

like someone said, dirty hands grabbing chips and double dipping. But, think about it, I'm sure the chips will get soggy in the sea air.

On our cruise in Jan on the dream, I had a burrito for lunch one day. They gave me a handful of round yellow corn tortilla chips to go with my burrito and salsa.

A simple solution to providing chips. Carnival could get small bags of chips, similar to what you get out of a vending machine, and put some out like they do with the small boxes of cereal at the buffet. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about other hands touching the chips, and people wouldn't have to worry about bringing their own.

I would love to have chips, but don't really want to have one more thing to lug on the ship with us....

Since we fly we have to track down a store that has all of that stuff and although we have been able to find a place for drinks nearby I don't really want to go on a small grocery trip :(

I know my husband ate the salsa, he just opened up his burrito and added it. I put some on my tacos. I sure wish Carnival could find a way to provide chips in a sanitary way without everyone's hands being in them :)

If they have hard taco shells could you get those plain and break them up for chips?

lol @ there are chips in the casino. The salsa is great on the burritos. I love chips and salsa as much (maybe more) than the next person, but I love lots of things and Carnival can't offer EVERYTHING on the cruise that you want from home.

There ya go. Providing chips sounds sooooo easy, but it really isn't. Next thing you know there will be posting about wanting the yellow chips. NO, the white chips. Personally I love the blue chips. Tortilla chips or potato chips?

 

When Heald posted the question about having Doritos and dips, people were commenting Doritos don't need chips. Even with the salsa, it is like baby food. If the salsa does not draw tears, please do not call it salsa.

 

So many variables, not worth the headaches to implement it.

I always wondered about that...I remember our first cruise I decided I needed crisps (chips) badly and bought some overpriced pringles from the shop.

 

I am going to bring my own next time.

There are no hard taco shells...only soft if I remember correctly.

Only time I've ever seen chips were on carribean night on the ship(and this was on the Breeze) why only that night and no other is beyond me..

Pringles actually started making a Tortilla chip in a can. They are pretty darn good too.

 

The cans would make it nice to avoid any issues with them getting crushed in the luggage.

there use to be fantastic chips on the buffet bar (Valor ) along with the melted cheese, sour cream and salsa... they tasted homemade, actually tasted baked. but they did not have them on the last sailing ..

 

I loved those chips with the cheese and salsa...

Yeah, Green Boy, I usually find chips at the buffet along with cheese and chile. I think it is at the grill with burgers and dogs.

Yes that is the correct way to serve a taco, you don't find hard shells in Mexico, unless you go to Taco Time or Taco Bell.

Duh, for the Taco, Tostado or Burrito. or the other things they serve.
