Room Service Tipping

I have always tipped when getting room service/morning continental breakfast, but always wondered what the proper amount should be. How much do most people tip for room service on their cruise? Silly question, I know. 😬

$1-3 for a pot of coffee and basic continental breakfast. $3-5 for a full/hot breakfast for 2.

$3-5 for a meal for 1( for me that is usually at lunch and consists of a salad and the burger on the Royal RS menu which is yummers)

We have never ordered dinner for RS( sailing in suites on Royal we can order from the full MDR menu) but if we did, of rate pair of us, probably $10 f we went whole hog( happy, entry, dessert)

We usually only have coffee and pastry so tip $1 or $2. However, if we order two full breakfasts, that is a heavier tray so we tip more.

The first time we ordered room service, my cabin mate and I messed up and didn't tip (we had the money out and on the dresser, but she thought I tipped the crew member and I thought she did--oops!). After that, we kinda went (you should pardon the expression) overboard to show our appreciation. :D

Usually, $2 to $3 for a snack, sandwich or drinks, and $5 for a full meal and/or alcoholic beverages.

Thank you for all the suggestions/opinions; they put my mind at ease, as to what I tip. We only use room service for morning coffee and fruit or pastries, and have been tipping $2-$3. If we ever decide to order a full meal, we will tip more. On rare occasions, we didn't have small bills....so, simply wrote "tip" along with amount on the room service slip and signed it. You will then see it on your final bill.

On some cruise lines (HAL), you cannot write in a tip on any slips but for the Steiner's Salon. All tipping on HAL above the automatically charged hotel service charge is done in cash.
