Surprise cruise

 Share

Recommended Posts

I am booking a cruise to surprise my husband for his birthday. I really want it to be a surprise, I am even coordinating his time off at work and I hope nobody says anything. We have sailed NCL before so they have both of our email addresses on file. I am booking through a TA.

Do any of you know if NCL automatically sends out anything to both parties if we book through TA or does everything go through TA? If so I will only give my email so I would be the only one contacted. I was also thinking I just wouldn't give his member number and that might prevent an email.

Anyone thoughts on this?

Thanks

I have never gotten any emails from NCL on either of my cruises other than confirmations. Our Dawn cruise was booked thru a TA and I did get and invoice from her. I get email all the time from NCL but its regarding new promos.

I think your secret will be safe ;)

If you don't give his latitudes number, he will eventually receive an auto email saying he has 2 latitudes numbers and they have merged the accounts, just about ruined a surprise cruise I had planned but I was lucky I caught the email first and deleted it. If your husband has a my NCL account that you have access to, change the profile to your email address

You should still get emails once your Latitudes number is used.

She might be able to get away with it long enough to sweet talk someone at NCL into exchanging his Latitudes email address with hers. This is all much easier if he doesn't have a Latitudes account.

My wife has a Latitudes number, but she has not been getting emails about our upcoming trips. I don't know if they don't have an email address for her or if it's all going to her old one.

My boyfriend and I have booked our cruises through the casino. Even though I do all of the talking and reserving, and ask for the confirmation, etc. to be sent to me, I know he's also always received e-mails. They tend to send e-mails saying "It's X amount of days until your cruise, so book X." I would imagine they do this even if you are booked with a TA?

Also, for this past cruise, all I had to say on the phone was my info, and the Casinos at Sea rep also automatically had my boyfriend's info, including his Latitudes number. Plus I made a change for a price drop about a week after we booked, and he received the new confirmation email instead of me. This is all just to say, I am sure it's possible, but I think you'd have to be super-insistent that they remove his email or something, because their system must link everything together and obviously the lines get crossed sometimes. Heck, my boyfriend and I aren't even married and our information is linked!

Yep, my husband was surprising me with one for Christmas, and I got this email from NCL, basically spoiling it.

Two comments:

They do send emails. More than a few people have posted how a surprise about the cabin, drinks, etc was ruined.

Also, a surprise is great. Personally, I get almost as much excitement about preparing for a cruise as the cruise itself. If my other did surprise me, I would want to know a week or two out. Just me of course.

Thank you everyone for your input, I might try to call NCL to see what I can do about his email address on file. The funny thing is if he has an account on NCL I probably set it up so I will also try to access that a few more times to change the email myself before calling as I don't think NCL will allow me to change his account information over the phone.

It is a combo birthday anniversary present and our anniversary is one week before we sail so I was going to tell him then so he will have 1 weeks notice :-)

It has been awhile so maybe things have changed, but when we had a trip booked through a TA, NCL wouldn't even let me change my email address they said I had to do that through the TA, but then again, NCL shoreside isn't always in the know.

I've booked every one of our trips and whenever we have gotten a postcard it is addressed to DW.

Good news his email was associated with his latitudes number but he did not have a myncl account so I was able to create account with his latitudes number and changed his email to mine.

I alway get the regular mail so that shouldn't be a problem.

Fingers crossed I can keep it a surprise!!
