5kids2dogs Posted March 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2015 I've booked a room for two people. If one cancels, does the price go down for a single, stay the same or go up due to re-pricing with current prices? We are before final payment. cruiseguy1016 Posted March 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2015 It will not go up. Once you book, you are guaranteed that the price will not be higher. The price could go down or it could stay the same. Sometimes you are charged the same price (minus taxes and port fees) for one passenger as you would be for two. Sometimes they give a discount if there is only one in the cabin. I don't know if there is anything specific that determines which it will be. Kcruiser2014 Posted March 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) Normally, if one cancels out of two in a stateroom, the remaining person is charged a "solo supplement", normally 200% of the normal two person rate. Example: 2 in stateroom at 500 pp, one cancels, then $1000 for remaining solo. Edited March 10, 2015 by Kcruiser2014
buzzandjulie Posted March 11, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2015 Does anyone know if you can change name of second person before final payment
PantherFan Posted March 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 11, 2015 you can I have done it before. I believe you can do it after final payment but I wouldn't wait to long after that. The problem comes when you want to change the first person on the reservation, that causes all sorts of issues.
Clarea Posted March 11, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 11, 2015 Does anyone know if you can change name of second person before final payment I believe you can change the name of any guest up to 24 hours before the cruise, as long as one of the original names on the booking stays the same. cb at sea Posted March 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2015 The fee will be reduced by the port fees for the 2nd person....the cabin's price is based on DOUBLE occupancy...therefore, the cost is double the "per person" price.
Rare JamesEM Posted March 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2015 Also, if you sail alone you will receive extra C&A points.

The cost was around $5,300 for two people and would have been $11,300 for one! Go figure. Needless to say I didn't drop the 2nd person. irishgal432 Posted March 11, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2015 If you are after final payment, and you are in the penalty period, do you still get charged a solo rate?
Gator92 Posted March 11, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 11, 2015 We had to cancel my husband out at the last minute last year to due illness and they did not charge me an additional supplement. Of course, it was after the final payment, so they did not refund any money. Thank goodness for trip insurance!!
littlej Posted March 11, 2015 #12 Share Posted March 11, 2015 I recently sailed solo. I booked during the BOGO at the time and they applied the discount to my booking, so I effectively was charged a 150% single supplement.
