bogofman Posted March 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2015 I've been reading all the threads concerning price increases on Royal Caribbean, and are wondering if Celebrity are going to follow suite Its seems the minimum price for mixed drinks on RCl is 10$ +18% if Celebrity follow suite most drinks currently in the lowe drinks package won't be included anymore, Which will result in most needing to upgrade to the premium package I hope not , as we booked the cruise because of what was included in the package at the time of booking. dwhe Posted March 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2015 If they put their prices up they will also adjust the package levels, what's the point in having a package with just a few drinks.

There is no way that a minimum for bar drink on RCL is $10.00 that is totally ridiculous. As for Celebrity there are dozens and dozens of options included in the package. I don't know why people keep insisting on causing hysteria over these packages over and over........ Edited March 11, 2015 by cherylroslyn

DinaS Posted March 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Actually that is the new price over at RCL. Drinks of the day $10... And that's just fine for RCL because their beverage package for $49 (per person per day) includes drinks up to $12. If they raised the price of the drinks to $10 on Celebrity, they would have to increase the allowable price for the Classic Beverage package. Either way, it will be fine :) Edited March 11, 2015 by DinaS
Rare shipshape sam Posted March 11, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 11, 2015 looks like it. This will make the drink packages more appealing which is one of Celebrity's goals.

There are some threads over on the RCL board discussing this - apparently something like a 40% price increase recently went through. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2179789

Or pricing will scare the casual drinker, like me away. We used to spend about $200-250 on drinks on a 14 day cruise, now we spend 0.

While I understand that some people will drink less when the price goes up, I cannot fathom depriving yourself completely. Why not just drink a little less? I would miss wine with dinner, a cold drink by the pool, and a cocktail before dinner.

Besides, being Elite Plus I get three free drinks anyway. We also, sometimes, get local drinks while in port. That's surfices for now.
Christine Frances Posted March 12, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 12, 2015 They are posting now that the $10 pricing is for "cocktail's" and the pricing for a standard rum & coke, gin & tonic eg is $7 plus 18%

I also make 'principled' decisions and I applaud you for taking a stand. For sure, we will not drink as many drinks on future cruses, but I don't think I will abstain even though we are Elite. I like Martini's at the bars with others, so see some of my spending as entertainment.

It used to be $4.75, plus 15% gratuity for a domestic beer. When we were on a cruise in November it was $5.50 plus 18% gratuity. The gratuity going up 3% nearly as much as the beer going up $.75. It would be a different story if the servers were getting a piece of the $.75 increase but I bet not, otherwise the gratuity wouldn't have been raised. I will still tip for the free drinks, but unless the pricing changes, they got the last penny out of me for drinks. In know way am I telling people what to do, just what I'm doing. In know way am I telling people what to do, just what I'm doing. It's $6.50 for a domestic beer on Long Island and we leave a 20% tip. I would be a head of the game on Celebrity. I booked under the promo for our next cruise so I have the drinks, grats, plus $300 OBC so we will be a cheap date on that cruise.
