Yelling Angry Woman Crown Princess. Mar. 7

Sounds like the lady freaked out. However no need to get that way. It's her own damn fault for not knowing what the schedule at Pelican Princess was. When you enroll your children you will get a pattern and ALL the daily activities are on there. So you know exactly what the kids are doing and where the kids will be. I have also (spied) I mean checked up on the kids when they go for ice cream or pizza and it's well organized.

A pager is given to the parents, and it's your choice to call or stop by to see how the kids are doing. My niece loves Pelican Princess.

Though we don't know the whole story, it reminds me of an experience I had several years ago. I teach elementary school. One day, a parent showed up at my classroom and we were not there. She ran to the office in a panic and was almost incoherently hysterical as she addressed the school secretary. When she had calmed down a bit, the secretary pointed out that we could be at any number of places (library, PE, music, computer lab etc.). "Oh" she replied, "I never thought of that! Never mind."

Frank;

Couldn't said it any better.....:):):)

Bob

Thanks Bob! :)

There are just too many holes in the story to accurately assess the incident which results in speculation & assumptions without all of the facts. ;)

While we certainly do not know all the details as to why this woman was making a complete fool out of herself by her screaming, she clearly was in the wrong. It is amazing what the ship personnel have to put up with and keep a smiling face and calm manner. They indeed have to be saints. Being irrational, screaming and throwing a fit will not ever solve the problem. We or at least most of us are adults and can handle crisis in a rational manner with respect for all. Kudos to the staff member for acting like the adult in the situation.

Doesn't sound like the lady distinguished herself, but as my psychology lecturer at business school used to remind us;

"There is no such thing as irrational behaviour, only apparently irrational behaviour. All behaviour is entirely rational in the eyes of the person behaving in an apparently irrational manner."

Don't know if this is relevant, but we were told the week before that there were going to be 600 kids on that cruise. The kids center may have been too crowded and they had to divide the kids up outside the facility.

Without more facts I still have to side with the staff. That is because my daughter was a pre-school teacher for many years. She is now a behavioral specialists Anyways she has had to deal with screaming, yelling parents before because the parent is not thinking rational. I do hope the parent calmed down and could come back new or escape completely. Too much violence in today's society:(

I am a 9-1-1 dispatcher ....got a call from a mother just out of control not even speaking in sentences. Get her somewhat calmed down and turns out she can't find her three year old. Trying to get an address , description of the child was pulling teeth . She is crying, screaming, praying , cursing at me because I am wasting time asking questions (She still hasn't told me her address yet)

Finally get the address out of her and send out the call.

2 MINUTES LATER!!!!! And I literally mean 2 minutes because all calls are recorded and time stamped

She calls back giggleing like nothing happened that she found the child , she was IN HER ROOM asleep and didn't hear her calling her. And she was like "It's Ok we don't need the police " "Kids , they sure keep you hoppin, he he he "

I was on the phone with her and her voice blew my ear drums out, this kid didn't hear her? Your child doesn't come when you call and you don't look all over the house ,before you call out the troops"

I can't see that happening. They have control over the kids in the facility, and not so much when out in the open. (There is always more than one adult with them, too.) I think if the place got too crowded, they would just limit the number of children who could register for the day. (It's necessary to register the kids first.)

You are correct and everyone onboard gave a sigh of relief that we only had 80. That included teens as well and not many of them. But I think they all went on our Pirate Ship excursion. A lot of them seemed to be Canadian kids.

Why, without facts do you take any side? How do you make any decision without know the facts?

What makes her wrong if you do not know the facts?

I don't know, but maybe because the staff member was not yelling and frightening the other children. It makes me wonder how yelling mom would react if it were her child in that group and some other shouting lady was making a scene and scaring her child.

And 600 is not a crazy number. Princess has had many more then that.

They would know ahead of time to staff appropriately.

Without the whole story one can only speculate. :(

Great quote. I think I am using this on my FB page today. There are people in my circle who need to read this.

I spent all 30 years of my career working for a low-income urban school district -- the last 18 as a campus administrator. I repeatedly witnessed that kind of behavior, and was often the recipient of someone's screaming diatribe. Screaming and yelling like it's reported this lady did is totally unnecessary, never helps the situation, and frequently makes those who could help reluctant to try because they're fearful for their own safety. I think any rational person would understand their child wasn't lost if the entire group was absent from the children's center.

Could the staff have done anything differently? Possibly they could have prevented the outburst with better communication or a way to notify parents of their whereabouts. However, the actions/lack of actions by the cruise line don't excuse this passenger's behavior, especially in front of children.
