cruisequeen007 Posted April 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Just read that boarding is by cabin floors. For those of you who traveled this year how strict are they in following this. If you are platinum or elite does it still apply?
Astro Flyer Posted April 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) I haven't read about nor have I experienced the progressive check-in procedure being enforced which says to "please" follow the procedure. The procedure was shown for our January cruise which having priority boarding didn't affect us & we expect the same thing soon on our upcoming cruise. ppmanusa Posted April 4, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Interesting, I say what difference does it make when all passengers arrive at different times. Can only hope it doesn't slow a complicated job down.
skynight Posted April 4, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Suggestion only. Full Suite, elite and platinum still board first followed by all others in the order they arrived at the pier.

SadieN Posted April 4, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2015 In San Pedro they divide check in by decks. Some decks go to the left and others go to the right.
Astro Flyer Posted April 4, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2015 In San Pedro they divide check in by decks. Some decks go to the left and others go to the right. Most of the cruises I've taken from various ports (including my "homeport" of LA) have check-in counters based on deck whether a progressive check-in notice has been issued or not. Thrak Posted April 4, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2015 We've never experienced staggered boarding in San Francisco. We show up, we check in, we board. When we sailed out of Los Angeles earlier this year we had staggered boarding and it was horrible. It took so long to get everybody on board that they had to move the muster drill back a good 45 minutes because people were still waiting to get on the ship. cruisequeen007 Posted April 4, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted April 4, 2015 I read this in the Travel Summary that Princess puts out on their website. Also got an email from my travel agent with the same information. This will be our 9th Princess cruise and never heard of this before.

7leagueboots Posted April 5, 2015 #11 Share Posted April 5, 2015 I have experienced staggered boarding once, but it was in Mexico after an afternoon at Senor Frogs.
RickEk Posted April 5, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 5, 2015 Staggered boarding is only a suggestion. It is supposed to ease the crowds that sometimes form early...
nukesubsailor Posted April 5, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 5, 2015 I have experienced staggered boarding once, but it was in Mexico after an afternoon at Senor Frogs. We've only encountered it once in our six Princess cruises, all out of SP.
