Almost halfway down the Pacific Coast to the PC in two days travel making

just a tad bit under 20 knots - she is doing fine.

With the previous posters info about the PC transit and 4 days upon exiting

the PC zone and arriving at Freeport and Dry-Dock repairs are no problemo !

Have not read or heard any details of what is exactly wrong with the AZIPOD(s).

If it is Max Speed or an matter of Thruster maneuverability in tight places or

simply bearings and pieces and parts were not lubricated correctly ?

"A LITTLE KNOWLEDGEABLE EXPERIENCED HELP HERE PLEASE" lets have the

'Paul Harvey' the rest of the story !

And a side note with all this unhindered time catering to passenger activity at

least all the topside improvements should be completed so the sailing out of

Miami on the 27th should be good to go. The crew and company will have had

two weeks to finish all the refurbishments and upgrades without having to work

around passengers.

I am in Pusrto Vallarta and the Star never showed up today.

It is not stopping anywhere until it reaches FREEPORT in the Bahamas.

The NCL STAR is having Azipod problems of an undefined nature.

And you would not have been able to see it anyway since the track is taking

her about 50 miles out to sea of the Mexican coast.

Hey Guys..

Its been a while....Thanks for the Star update, we'll be on her in May for the Baltic Capitals cruise. Fingers crossed..;). Hope Hugo will still be there..

Hi Rich and Loretta! It sounded like they are planning to keep the rest of the schedule on track. I hope it works out for you both. I didn't talk to Hugo about his contract timing, so I can't help you there. Take care.

There are a lot of rumors floating around about the NCL Star and its azipod problems. I am cruising on the Star from Copenhagen in a little over a month, so I am getting a bit nervous.

This is what is true so far: The April 12 Panama Canal cruise has been cancelled. So far, the April 27 trans-Atlantic cruise is scheduled to leave as planned.

Does anyone know where the ship will be repaired? Does anyone have any concrete information about the extent of the problem?

Please don't post jokes about the service charge for breakfast, etc. I feel so bad for the April 12 cruisers. They had their cruise cancelled with less than a week to go.

Due to a technical issue with the ship’s ABB-manufactured azipod propulsion system, Norwegian Star’s upcoming 15-day Panama Canal cruise, scheduled to depart on April 12, 2015 from Los Angeles, has been cancelled. The ship will be out of service from April 12 – 26, 2015 to repair the azipod.

Norwegian Star will resume its scheduled sailings beginning April 27, 2015 from Miami.

All guests who were booked on the 15-day Panama Canal cruise will receive a full refund of their cruise, as well as a 50% future cruise credit.

Any guests affected by this change can contact Norwegian at 1-877-461-1160 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm ET Monday through Friday, with any questions or to make updated cruise arrangements.

Norwegian Cruise Line sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this itinerary change and would like to thank our guests for their understanding.

Thank you NCL for responding to this post. It would help if you would occasionally comment on the progress of the repair just to make people feel more comfortable.

LOL - Looks like she's now near Guatamala. Someone reported the booking to cross the PC was at 9 PM Pacific Time, today, looks like that's likely from where she is now.

After clicking on the Bow Camera LINK:

http://www.kroooz-cams.com/ncl_star/star.php

Wait about a minute and REFRESH your screen for a new image.

Do not click on the NCL ship menu by ship use the REFRESH from the

right click on your mouse or top of browser page.

The bow camera updates about every 30 seconds.

There is limited tracking available for a great many areas on the globe.

I am using the least expensive no charge service; for more $$$s the

program can be upgraded to more detailed tracking and scanning.

To just get the Stars web cam (or other ncl web cams), you can get access to this also at ncl.com, you just have to go to "learn about our cruises/cruise ships" and then choose the ship you are interested in. Then you just scroll down to "Explore the Cruise Ship - GALLERY" and choose to see images from the web cam. I totally understand that if you like to check up on various ships, it is convenient to use a link that gives access to various ships and various cruise lines. But just wanted to mention for those who are just interested in NCL ships (and in this case the Star), that there are other options. :)

Hi Pam, the Star is near the southern tip of Panama near Agua Buena at the moment. In good position to hit a 9 PM place in line to transit the canal. Looks like a good tip.Thinking about putting on one of my NCL Panama Cruise t-shirts to celebrate the occasion.

The link above is not working anymore, here is a link that is working now (at least on my computer):

http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-79.57472/centery:8.96494/zoom:8/mmsi:311082000/shipid:374130

For those of you not familiar with this tracker web page, it is possible to "move" the box that contains information about the ship to one of the corners of the map (or just remove it), so that is doesn't block the "view".
