Does Jewel have a closed in solarium?

Yes, it's a covered area. The roof is retractable, but I've seldom seen it open.

Jewel has a retractable Solarium roof. Whether they open it or not is open for discussion.

Recently (October) did the southern caribbean on Jewel and the roof was never retracted...have cruise several times on various RCI ships and have never seen the roof opened...maybe it's just been my timing.

Jewel's solarium is really beautifuly. Probably one of my favorites. There is plenty of sunshine throughout the ship by the other pools, upper decks, etc. I have been on the Jewel twice and I just love that ship! I will definately go on the Jewel again soon,

We were on JW last Christmas and New Year's B2B. The roof was open many times. Guessing more than 1/2 of the time. Jewel's solarium roof is evidently in better shape than others. Apparently many are difficult to open, JW's not so.

I was on last week and saw it open almost everyday. When it was open it was only for a few hours.

So some of us have never seen it open and some have...So the question would be...What are the guidelines for opening it...does any one know that ?

We were on Jewel this past March. Some times it was open, some times it was closed. I don't know what criteria they used to decide when to open it.
