"Service Charge" Pre-booking unlimited drinks

Recommended Posts

I was looking at booking a drink package prior to boarding and noticed that there was a "Service Charge". In the case of the unlimited sodas it was $4.68. Is there this same service charge if I just buy the package when I get onboard, or is this just an online charge?

There will be an 18% gratuity added either way you purchase.

Wake up, GUT2407 :D. Package is quoted per day so service charge would also be per day. :p

Yeah but $4.68 is 18% of $26.00, $26.00 a day for soft drink, I though only I could get through that.:D

ROTFLMAO. Didn't realise you were so easy to arc up :D

I think the soft drink packages were about that price on our cruise. Can't remember exactly but I do recall noticing that they were ridiculously high. Also included speciality coffees and mocktails so wouldn't be hard to rack up $26 worth.

Soft drink usually about $8 a day and one with coffees mocktails etc for my Darling about $15 a day, but haven't sailed RCI yet but Bly H377 if you know what I mean.

The soda-only package is $6.50/day. On the 4 night Enchantment cruise that the OP is going on, that's $26... plus 18% gratuity, which is $4.68.

The non-alcohol beverage package is coming up on my cruise planner at $19/day + 18%.

You've lost me on Bly H377

Big price hikes for drinks in the past month or so on RCI :( in case you were sleeping through those conversations on the AUS/NZ board. :D

That solves that one, thanks. :) The sticker shock from the alcohol package prices must have fogged my brain. :o

$6.50 isn't too bad, and I never think of 4 day cruises.

But I think $19 for the non-alcoholic is a bit steep

I don't. I've been getting it since it was introduced in 2013. Of course, it used to be a flat $20/day, now it's $22.42 ($19 + 18%).

My daily beverage intake usually consists of 2 glasses of OJ with breakfast, 3-4 sodas throughout the day, 1-2 specialty coffees, 2-3 bottles of sparkling water, and a non-alcoholic pina colada. Sometimes I grab a bottle of regular water to take off the ship on a port day. That's somewhere in the neighborhood of $30/day before gratuities.

Espresso drinks (frappucinos, lattes, mochas, etc), Tazo tea, bottled water, sparkling water, fresh squeezed OJ in the morning, soda.... Seems worth it to me, if you can drink that much!

I'm similar, except it's 2-3 non-alcoholic frozen mojitos! :)
