I believe you are correct about it being open for lunch on sea days only.

Not sure if this is offered on all ships, but when we sailed on Grandeur, several of the offered specialty dining packages included mix of dinner and lunch - I think one was two dinners (Chops and Izumi), lunch at Giovannis, or one dinner, two lunches. We had three sea days, so that may be why they were offering so many combos.

 

But, it does not hurt to look to see what is offered when you board. Also, we ate at Giovanni's the first night, and hostess offered us a 20 percent off if we wanted to eat there a second night.

The manager told us that they did not offer the filet (or lamb chops I think) at lunch. Instead they offer lasagna and at least one other pasta.

On a B2B on Navigator, the prices were the same as above. We had lunch

there, the last full sea day. They don't have the filet, but DH did have a

steak which DH said was very good. The appetizers they brought we're awesome,

and we had a lovely, calm lunch.:)
