324hourtour Posted May 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2015 We are cruising the Med. this summer on Princess. Two yrs. ago we did it on Norwegian. The pursers desk always provided port info for the next day. With maps and guides. Just wondering if anyone knows if Princess does the same..... Saves printing maps for each port as we tend to venture out on our own.

A port guide and recommended shopping guide is supplied the night before you get to the port. It has all the important info for your stay . The maps might be very good but better than nothing. san diego sue Posted May 24, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2015 For Europe (and especially the Med) there will be a port lecturer that is knowledgeable. Much more so than any in the Caribbean. They don't talk shopping, or tours to take, very neutral. You will have a map in your cabin the night before. If you are not planning organized tours (which I recommend in most ports, whether private or ship tour), then at least get Rick Steves' guide books. Colo Cruiser Posted May 24, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) Yes, Stewart will leave port information in your cabin each evening prior to arrival. Most is really general info. We find its best to do your own research before going. :) We rarely use what they provide. Edited May 24, 2015 by Colo Cruiser

Rare ontheweb Posted May 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 25, 2015 The maps are pretty poor. LOL.We got lost in Santorini. So after finishing the tour of the museum (not on the map) we had stumbled on, we asked the guide where we were on the map. He laughed, and said we were off the map. He offered to get us a cab, but none would stop. He did show us a short cut back to where we wished to go.
Northender Posted May 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 25, 2015 The info you receive in your mailbox the night before is worth a looksee. The maps provided are definitely not to scale.:D Do your own research and join the roll call for this cruise. The best info comes from cruisers who have been there and done that.:):)
324hourtour Posted May 27, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted May 27, 2015 We have always done our own research, and usually carry Rick Steves books. I guess Norwegian just did a great job on providing better port info. They even sold a large color map showing all ports of call that we purchased for $10 and had framed as a memory of our trip.
