mcrcruiser Posted May 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Celeberity once posted a 14 night round trip from San Francisco & then sold the ship for 6 nights as a floating hotel ,cancelling that cruise . :o The ports on the 14 night cruise were wonderful & it is far less costly to arrive in SF than in Vancouver . :) Do you think if folks asked to have this cruise reconstructed that Celebrity would listen ? BEAV Posted May 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Do you think if folks asked to have this cruise reconstructed that Celebrity would listen ? =X= may listen, but I doubt they're looking for outside suggestions on potential itineraries. And this coming from someone who lives in the SF Bay Area and would give strong consideration to such an itinerary. JMHO.....
Karynanne Posted May 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 27, 2015 There is a Pacific Coastal cruise on 9/4/15 R/T San Francisco. The cruise doesn't go to Alaska. And after that cruise, the ship will be utilized as a "hotel" for one week.
WestLakeGirl Posted May 27, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 27, 2015 They couldn't offer SF to Honolulu, but they could offer It as a round trip, SF-Honolulu-SF. A one way would violate the PVSA as they would not be able to stop in a distant foreign port so it would have to be a round trip. That makes lots of (potentially rough) Pacific sea days
Cruising Is Bliss Posted May 27, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 27, 2015 (edited) Celeberity once posted a 14 night round trip from San Francisco & then sold the ship for 6 nights as a floating hotel ,cancelling that cruise . :o The ports on the 14 night cruise were wonderful & it is far less costly to arrive in SF than in Vancouver . :) Do you think if folks asked to have this cruise reconstructed that Celebrity would listen ? No. I think Celebrity looked at revenue/expenses for that itinerary vs whatever else they could do with a ship for two weeks and that itinerary lost. Princess has a ship homeported in San Francisco doing 10 day Alaska round trip cruises. That probably puts a big dent in the pool of potential passengers for a longer cruise. Assateague Island Princes Posted May 27, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Holland America has a true 14 day Alaskan itinerary (no repeat ports) sailing RT from Seattle. Includes several little visited ports like Kodiak, Homer, Anchorage (the city itself - not Whittier or Seward), Sitka, and ISP, along w/the usual 'suspects' of Ketchikan and Juneau, a full day in Victoria, BC, and glacier sailing of Tracy Arm. Assateague Island Princes Posted May 28, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 28, 2015 You're welcome, mcrcruiser. I've done this itinerary 3 times since 2010 and can't recommend it highly enough. Hope you will give it some consideration.
