mad-dog74 Posted June 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2015 We've never done my time dining before. Do you have the same wait staff each night? To us, that makes the dinner memorable... getting to know the wait staff. Can you just show up at anytime or do you have to select a time at some point thru the day, etc? to get seated? Thanks
jkrislc Posted June 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2015 The hostess generally tries to seat you with the same wait staff each evening unless you request otherwise.
dplusd Posted June 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2015 We've enjoyed MTD since it was introduced and have always been seated with the same wait staff...and usually the same table. It's one of the many things Royal does right with their MTD.
cavydad Posted June 11, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2015 On a back to back cruise you can request the same wait staff. You may have to move to another area as the wait staff is rotated around the room.
Ashland Posted June 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2015 You can...but we have enjoyed having different waitstaff & table location...we like the flexibility of everything about MTD.
wallyworld583 Posted June 11, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2015 We did the westbound TA this spring and opted for MTD. Was concerned because we enjoy having the same staff every night. The first night we enjoyed the wait staff so much that on the way out we asked for and were given reservations for the same table for the rest of the cruise. Even the nights where we were late for our reservation due to tours, we were given the same table. And yes, we did tell the waiter and the fellow at the reservation desk we were going to be late. Had not done MTD before and had concerns but after this we will do it again.
Rare MicCanberra Posted June 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 11, 2015 You can always ask for the same staff each night but that may take the flexibility of My time dining away.
pcur Posted June 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 11, 2015 We make reservations for the same table and wait staff in MTD. Sometimes it takes a few nights to "click" with the wait staff, but that's rare. Then, we will call if we want to adjust the dining time, and they let us know when the table is available. We switched to MTD not for the flexibility, but because we had a much better choice of tables for 2 that weren't in the "side-by-side" section. They will put us at a table for 4 with no one else if necessary, and the main dining room is reluctant to do that.

It's one of the many things Royal does right with their MTD. Carnival, Celebrity, and Holland American do this, too. It's not just a Royal Caribbean thing. Glassrobinson Posted June 11, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 11, 2015 On our last cruise we had MTD and had the same wait staff except one really busy night. The main waiter still made time to find us and come over to say hello.

Another advantage but don't tell everyone or you will not be able to keep doing it.;)
