Medical Insurance for CUBA.

 Share

Recommended Posts

I have booked an 8-day trip with a 60-person group which includes Air from LAX to Miami, one night hotel in Miami, charter flight to Havana and return, all hotels, food, travel-agent Escort, and Local (Cuban) Guide. This Group must stay together at all times.

The Travel Agency offers optional air insurance for $50 and trip cancellation for $200. However, I asked about the Cuban Medical Insurance  and the Agent had no idea how it works.

I have only Medicare which pays nothing out of the U.S. Does anyone know an insurance scheme that will sell me medical insurance for Cuba?

Cuban hospitalization is not on my Bucket List.

Cuba REQUIRES travel medical insurance of all visitors, and has for some time now. You won't get past the border without it. I am surprised your group TA didn't know anything about this.

Try this link for more information; it is similar to buying an auto policy if you plan to drive your car into Mexico. http://www.insubuy.com/cuba-travel-insurance/

Now that travel restrictions are being loosened, some of the well-known travel policies include Cuba as a destination, although you may have to provide the tour license information in order to purchase a policy.

I was able to find the Agent at my booking agency who knows about this and yes, there has to be a "minimal policy" for travel to Cuba. She is sending me information about it. For example: $500 allowed for emergency dental. It IS included in the total cost of my trip. I'll come back when I have read what I receive (if I can even understand it). ;)

Di Princess your profile is not complete. Travel Insurance policies are different depending on what country or State you live in..... You really might want to clarify that when getting info on insurance and maybe fix your profile.

Call Steve, I don't know anyone who can sort thru the in's and outs of 100 different policies like he can. I would trust his advice over that of a TA.....

Seeing you have Medicare, you definitely should review amount of medical coverage for accident or emergency illness. If necessary, purchase a side policy of your own. You likely have trip coverage included in the minimal policy you reference but I would not risk not being absolutely sure how much medical/evacuation coverage.

Thanks, Gal.

How do I get the phone number ?

Try typing "tripinsurancestore" into Google. Really very easy. Can't figure out why people can not get the answers to simple questions using Google.

Google is your friend! Website is informative, but call and ask for Steve. He is a CC member and posts on the Travel Insurance Forums.

I am in no way connected, but have bought Travel Ins thru them as recently as 2ish weeks ago.

I can never figure out why people don't use Google to get answers to simple questions. In most cases, typing the question into Google instead of into CC will get them the answer immediately, usually on the first or second hit. Just lazy I guess.
