why does it matter who the cruise director is? does that make a break a cruise for some of you?

Yes, since I participate in many of the activities and enjoy the entertainment, the CD does have a significant impact on my cruising experience.

It seems Ken Rush may be the CD of Harmony. I know he has done take outs for the last couple of ships and been behind the scenes but according to a tweet from Nick Weir, VP of Entertainment for RCI, he says Ken is Harmony Cruise Director.

I just saw on the Royal Caribbean Blog today that the Entertainment VP for Royal announced that Ken Rush will officially be the CD on Harmony when it enters service.
Thank you!

For Quantum/Anthem, Ken was initially announced as the CD, and later it was clarified that he would be behind the scenes and a 2nd CD was announced for each of those ships.

So, it'll be interesting to see if he remains as the sole CD on Harmony. (My guess is that Joff will either be added, or he will take over after Ken's contract on that ship is up. But that's just a guess)

Hi Donna.

I am on Indy right now and I had a chance to speak with Ricky Matthews today. He said that after Indy he will be headed towards Oasis. I didn't get to ask him when he expects to get there, but if I see him again I will ask if I get a chance.

I hope this helps you out. Enjoy your time on Liberty.

Andrew

Thanks Andrew. I put him on the list to cover Drew Devine's break on Oasis beginning Nov 21 or 28, because that seems to fit both of their schedules perfectly. I can always edit it later if more precise info becomes available.

Enjoy Indy!

Greetings from Liberty in Bermuda!

I spoke to Dru last night, and he will be onboard until

December 6, and then Amy will be taking over as CD.

He said on the morning show that he doesn't have his full schedule yet, but he expects to be on Anthem at least for some of his contracts in 2016

I really like Dru as a CD a lot. Very witty and intelligent.

More later...

I will do a full list update when I get home!

Thanks, Donna, for all you do here!! I was looking forward to Dru on Liberty, but it's not to be. We board Dec. 6!! Darn! What do you know about Amy?

I just read on the Ken Rush thread that it has already been clarified that Ken is only taking Harmony to Barcelona, and then the full-time CD will be taking over.

I will edit the list with this info for now, but I asked that poster for the source of this clarification so I can check that it is accurate, and if the source mentioned who the fulltime CD will be? (My guess is Jerome Sueur).

Through November, there are lots of loose ends to tie up. Can anyone find out:

Allure: how much longer is Bobby onboard, and who will be following him? (Is he the new regular CD on Allure - meaning will he be doing regular 4 month contracts with 2 month breaks in between?)

Anthem: how much longer is Luke onboard, and who will be following him?

Brilliance: how much longer is Clo onboard, and who will be following her?

Enchantment: who will be covering Marc's break beginning Nov 20?

Grandeur: who will be following Jeff on Nov 11?

Legend: how long will Keith be onboard?

Mariner: who is following Jamie in November, and what is the exact handover date?

Oasis: what is the exact handover date between Drew and Ricky?

Quantum: who is following Jimmy in November, and what is the exact handover date?

Serenade: who is following Carly on Nov 13?

Splendour: who is following Simona, and is Nov 28 the correct handover date?

Hi Donna. I saw that Nick Weir posted another tweet in Spanish after his original tweet that indicated that Ken would get off in Barcelona to be replaced by someone who speaks Spanish. That would be June 5th as Harmony leaves Southampton May 29th. Hope this helps.

why does it matter who the cruise director is? does that make a break a cruise for some of you?

A cruise director does have an impact on the entertainment and activities that occur on board. They are responsible for all the planning and they are also entertainers in there own right....will a CD have such an impact on a cruise to cause me to not have a good time....no. But they can take a very good cruise experience to a better level. It is all in the interaction.

In addition the attitude of the rest of the cruise directors staff starts with the CD. There is where the impact might be felt the most....if the rest of the team enjoys working with the CD it comes across to the cruisers and everyone has more fun.

We'll be on the oasis on 1/30/16 will Ricky Matthews be the CD?

Ricky is likely doing a 2 month fill-in to cover Drew Devine's break, so my guess is that Drew will have returned by the end of January and will be the CD for that sailing.

I spoke w Carly yesterday.

Carly will be on the Serenade until "mid November", then Bobby Brown will take over. Carly doesn't know where she'll be assigned next.

Edited to say that I just noticed Bobby Brown is on the Allure so perhaps someone on there can find out how long he'll be on the Serenade. At least it won't be a long trip to get from one ship to the other. :D

Thanks Karen! Hope you are enjoying your cruise.

I guess this means that Bobby only has a 2 month contract on AD, otherwise he won't be available to cover on Serenade in November.

I have November 13 as the handover date based on previous info, so I'll leave that date on the list for now, and will edit later if it changes.

It's a great cruise. The downside is that there are about 1676 returning passengers including 76 Pinnacles, and a total of over 900 D and up. I had to beg for 3 days to get a robe, and I'm Diamond [emoji14]

Carly is doing a great job. We had a fun Meet & Mingle that she hosted, and she was the one doing the drawing for the prizes. They gave away a lot, but alas, I didn't win anything :(

Help Wanted:

Bobby Brown should be leaving Allure in the next week or two, as he is due on Serenade on Nov 13.

Can someone please find out who will be Allure's next CD, and what date the handover will take place???

Does anyone know Rich Edwards - we've never had him as cruise director - does he sing, dance, etc. Any information would be helpful - thanks

Hi Bernice and Bob

He is a fabulous cd -- friendly, talented, very visible, always gives me a big hug when we see each other

Looks like we will see you on the Freedom -- party time?

It probably isn't much but I'll say what I know. I talked to Bobby at the consecutive cruisers meeting and he said he would be on for about 10 days after the transatlantic. If he's actually on the Seranade November 13, then he should be getting off Allure either the 6th or the 8th. I'll try to remember to get this right at the Meet and Mingle and ask who will replace him here. I completely forgot about that.
