Carnival needs to change their CHEERS package

I'm a 5'5 130ish pound woman who loves beer. I could blow through the 15 limit before dinner without being 'drunk'. Buzzed? Yes. Drunk? No. I can assure you I don't have problems. ;) it's easy if you're the type of person who enjoys a few beers with coffee after breakfast, one or two on the balcony, a couple with lunch...they add up.

I can do the 15 in 24 hours, hell ive done that in 6 hours, Alot of ppl have a high tolerance for alcohol, 12 beers and a few shots and my friends need more for the remaining 23 hours....:D

' May all your cruises be fun and alcohol enriched:D"

i dont buy the Cheers program.

Its way to costly and I wont ever drink more then 15 a day.

I do think they should add specialty coffees to the program

Earlier this month on day 1 of a cruise, they sold me a frozen mochaccino with Baileys at the coffee bar for the price of the mochaccino and "Cheers" took care of the liquor.

On day 2 they said they couldn't sell me the liquor at all and I had to go to another bar to get the liquor, seemed kind of silly as the bottle was sitting right there.

If you are consuming more than 15 alcoholic drinks per day you have problems....holiday or not. Its still tricky to get up to even with other drinks.

However the Guest Service manager on the Legend told us it was a way to try and limit sharing one package.

I can drink 15 drinks without a problem if you consider the day is most likely an 18 hour day. So I don't feel I have a problem

Wow, I'm a cheap date. At home, I can go out with $15.00, have 2 to 3 beers, get buzzed as I am a lite weight, drive thru Mickey D's for a burger and have a good nights sleep... I'd be in a coma if I ever exceeded my 4 beer max[emoji50].

I did notice, on a cruise, I can drink more and not get as buzzed as fast as at home. Not sure why, maybe the Bud Lite is stronger at home???

I'm usually 3-4 deep after breakfast because of mimosas!

As a 5'4" woman (not sure why we're all giving our measurements, but sure.) I have hit my limit on more than one occasion and never felt more than a slight buzz. I tend to drink frozen cocktails (I don't drink them at home because I'm SO not washing 2 blenders!) and space throughout the day. I hit 15 at about midnight or 1 and then it's bedtime.

Although, if I have a few left at 11 and I'm ready for bed, I'll do a couple of shots :)

That's what my DH and I do. We hit our limit several times during our cruises. And by no means are we drunk. BUZZED oh yes.. 4 days and we'll be walking on Sunshine!!

As 5'10 woman who drinks all real beers and a relation of a Heptology specialist I sincerely doubt this statement.

I believe her. She is talking about beer, and saying finishing up the 15 limit before dinner. Say she starts at 9am and does 2 per hour. She can easily have finished the 15, and just maintained a buzz throughout.

They should offer a second cheers package (call it the cheers lite program) at $22.00/day in price for a qty of six (6) beer and/or wine only for those who would like to drink, but not get totally wasted.

What about people like me that don't drink wine or beer? I do like a wine with dinner, but I like either Scotch or drinks like Mango swirl.

I have also purchased the Cheers program last year when it was $37.50 a day. My husband and I average 6-8 drinks daily. I didn't get wasted, totally or otherwise. I think the limit now is fine and if I do buy it again, which is doubtful as it's a 10 day cruise and I wouldn't drink for 10 days straight even on vacation.

I guess for those who want to have unlimited drinks, then perhaps you can go on the lines that offer unlimited drinks until Carnival misses you and decides to make their pack unlimited. I just wish that not everyone in the cabin 21 and older would have to buy it. I totally do understand Carnival's reasoning, but I still wish that would change.

It doesn't bother me enough though to change to a different line.

I have never had more than 15 drinks a day on a cruise, mainly because of cost. However, in those frozen drinks there is not much alcohol. Plus, sitting in the sun, they get watery and then you can just get a fresh one with Cheers.i don't care about the limit, but I can understand why people don't like it.

That said, I agree that not having everyone have to purchase the package would be great. My husband hardly drinks at all, but I like to try out new drinks on a cruise. I'd also like to see more options in package varieties. Like a Bottomless Bubbles that includes smoothies and/or specialty coffees.

I wish is was more like Celebrity cruise's... they have a 2-tier system and the premium includes basically everything under $13. Wine by the glass, beer, drinks, bubbly by the glass, water, juice, coffee (all types), etc. The lower one does not include water/coffee but does have beer/wine/booze but I think it's up to $9... unlimited.

I think we are not doing the Cheers next cruise and instead just buying a couple of bottles thru BV and buy as we go. Plus Cheers does not work on HMC....

The only thing about it I wish they would change is that all have to purchase in the cabin. NCL does the same while RCCL lets us purchase as we see fit. Although I do get the package when offered on a cruise (my upcoming DCL does not offer) it is not a dealbreaker to sailing that particular line. Im sure most dont jump ship to a more expensive line just for unlimited drinks but Im just guessing.

Yes, NCL does offer it as a perk, but check the prices, sometimes the perk can be more costly than Cheers package + cruise cost.

I was previously booked on the Dawn to Bermuda next Sept, but changed reservations to Carnival Pride to save more than 700.00 US$ per person. I also calculated based on an even lower CA$ should it drop lower than it is now as I was losing the advantage of a locked-in rate with NCL. For a couple hundred US$ I would have left the booking as it was, but there's no way I can leave that much US$ PP on the table.

I can handle my alcohol, but there is no way I could drink 15 drinks a day, multiple days in a row ... one or two days, yes, if starting early in the morning. Multiple days in a row, not gonna happen ... besides which, there would be no room for food, I'd slosh when I walk and would have to be in the WC constantly draining the bladder! Once you break that seal, it's all downhill from there ... :D

Norwegian Cruise line is offering the drink package for free and its unlimited amount ............ seems like a no brainer

If it takes a significant amount of business away, carnival will have to do something. But likely NCL is offering a promo like this for a reason (seems to me they've just raised their prices to cover it, it only looks free)

What Limit.

I gave the casino bartender a 20 on day one, and a buck or so on most drinks, Always went to him when we could find him,. Never hit a limit the entire cruise, niether did my wife, or the friends we were with, Later on each night, we did notice we were drinking soda's accoding to the reciept.

We do this on NCL and so many times we wld be getting two drinks at a time at the pool or bars even when not asking. Granted the waiter is getting double tips but I have the package so didnt matter although no limit on NCL.

Wonder how they get the bar to balance on an audit? They know how many pours and waste there is from each bottle. They must have some bartender discretion built in.
