Today we are in Manta, Ecuador. We took at tour on the highlights of Manta which gave us a demonstration on the making of Panama hats. Myster and I each bought one. Below is a picture of part of the process.

Appreciate this one excellent picture and background from mysty. Yes, this very nice, but it just makes us so much more hungry for more and more and more pictures. Very nice to hear: "Cruise is a delight so far!"

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

We received more snow today in Central Ohio. Temperatures are going down, very, very low tonight. Will be a low of only about 3F° later tonight!! And for that overnight low, it will have a "wind chill" or "RealFeel" -12F°. AccuWeather says it is now 12F°. See a few visuals below to prove the snow here.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

For Athens, Greece, check out this posting with many ideas, tips and exciting visuals for our visiting there and nearby. There have been over 11,418 views on this posting. Go to:

These two pictures show that this snow looked pretty and is not too deep. Both of these pictures were shot from our front door, one down down towards the roadway. The second visual is across the ravine towards our neighbor's home. Notice the tracks in the driveway from wife backing out as she went shopping?:

Outside enjoying the snow this afternoon are our two dogs, 9.5 year old yellow lab, Rudy, and our 12.5 year old black lab, Roxie. It was fun for them today being outside, exploring and getting fresh sniffs!!:

Having done the land component of Africa, including Bots we have booked the Cape Town return for Dec 16 holiday cruise, so I am following along (i don't read posts with photos of destinations... I like to see the destination through fresh eyes... don't be offended just a personal thing).

Apologies for being out of the cooler for so long but the end of year rush leading into going away the day after I finished work saw little time to socialise on the net...

On another topic.... we ate at Gaggan in BKK and I would say this was the best meal I have ever had. It certainly deserves its accolades

les37b: Yikes! That's cold Terry! Makes the hot weather coming up even more enticing! I read that we (London) will be getting some of the white stuff this weekend. Its definitely cooler now' date=' so wouldn't be shocked. [/quote']

Mark_K: Terry' date=' [b']It's cold[/b], relatively speaking, down here in SW Florida too. When I got up this morning I had to turn the heat on.

Welcome back to MrsWaldo and good luck on your upcoming Cape Town travels. Yes, it's super cold this morning here. Lots of school districts closed today in Central Ohio, including Columbus. But, others are open. That always causes debate for whether they close or not!!

Below is a little comparison for Central Ohio versus Cape Town!! How would you vote? In 13 days will it be smart to head south of the Equator? That has been our plan for the past two Midwest winters and it has worked well.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Should we go? Is there a difference? Here is comparing roughly 7:34 am in Columbus versus nearly the same time for (locally there at 2:47 pm in the afternoon) for Cape Town per AccuWeather. These are F temps, not in the C standard. Seem smart to head to Cape Town on Feb. 26?:

It's very cold here in Wales, plenty of rain with snow on the horizon according to the forecast.......l see NY state have some of the white stuff so it's bound to make its way over here at some point!

Exciting when that Silver Box arrives... A few weeks yet before mine drops in but I've already started counting down the weeks! [emoji6]

Yes, we got a light dusting, maybe 1/2 inch. Cold with some sunshine this morning. Enough snow to be pretty, but not a nuisance.

My brother who lives 3h west, and closer to the Great Lakes (which cause lake-effect snow) dodged most of it too. Less than an hour north of him, they got a foot. Funny how focal this storm was!

Morning all.

Yes it's cold here in south Florida.

In the low fifties.

Pool heater struggling to warm the water, and after watching the steam rise off the pool, I turned the temperature down so I don't have to watch dollars go up in steam.

Yesterday it was raining and it felt like Autumn in New England.

Bone chilling damp.

Since our homes here are cement block, it becomes dificult to heat them effectively.

The sun is out today and should warm up the temperature a bit.

Enjoying the snow photos. Our dog wouldn't know what to do in snow, as she hadn't ever seen it.

The colder temperature is envigorating and I think I will do some yard work.

Carpe diem!

Good day coolers.

Very cold here. Ribeye and goose fat air-fries with onion rings. Nice indoor bbq on the lava briqs with lots of extractor smoke on a day when it was 3c outside .... summer inside ... winter outside :)

Hi Soapy,

Don't hesitate.

I use two Phillips Airfryers in each home and on a daily basis. It is the most used "gadget". I use Mccain French and Home fries and they are as good as deep fat fried as long as you time the meal around the fries. I also use them for roasties awhich the goose fat fries are basically and also scratch fries with olive oil. On this meal they were used for the fries and onions.

Today I am using the airfryer for baked potatos ie in the microwave first then coated in aoil and salt and airfried to finish. I don't use my main oven any more just airfryers and mini-ovens. If I didn't have the lava grill I'd probably try them for ribeyes.

I only have goose fat air-fried roasties or chips if you like, when we feel like them and I only abuse myself in moderation so the health issues are of no consequence to me. I will probably die of something I would have chosen not to and not goose fat fried potatos.

If you decide to get one I'm happy to post how I go about scratch fries and roasties with olive oil or goose fat. It produces better than a deep fat fryer and the airfryer can be used for so many other things .... and you don't have all that oil to mess with.

:)

Jeff

Jeff, I have wondered how those airfryers really work.

Nice to know from your experience. I have large electric deep fryer have NEVER used. Too intimidated by the amount of oil needed.

Food looks delish. Its breakfast time here, but I would eat that for breakfast.

It's dreary and chilly here about 54 F.

Going to rain all day.

Been reading about the discovery of houses in the muck from 3k years ago.

Press calling it Britain's Pompeii.

Sounds like an amazingly fabulous discovery!

Oooh! I bought one of those from Amazon on Flack Friday and wrapped it up and gave it to the wife as an xmas gift for her to moan about to all her friends and family at "what I've been bought". It wasnt really an xmas gift... just a tease! But yes we love it too. Chips are superb! Got any recipes?

Greetings Coolers! We were in Salaverry, Peru today. We took a ship excursion to Chan Chan and the Huaca Dragon sites. Chan Chan is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest clay city in pre-Hispanic America.

Next came a visit to Huaca Dragon, a 1,100 year old adobe pyramidal temple.

Then the bus drove by Independence Square in Trujillo. Here is one of the colonial style balconies on the square.
