bconley351 Posted August 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2015 I was wondering if Mountain Dew (a Pepsi product) was sold in Australia and NZ. One of our traveling companions drinks it for her morning caffeine. If she needs to she can make due with a cola product, but she prefers Mountain Dew Also, a friend who R&R'd in Australia during Vietnam told me that what I consider lemonade is not the same in Australia. What do I have to order to get US style lemonade? We'll be in Sydney for about 8 days precruise so we'll have time to stock sodas and a few bottles of wine. Newby58 Posted August 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Mountain Dew is available in Sydney however, perhaps not in all the smaller stores. I believe your lemonade would be equal to our lemon squash.
Scuddog52 Posted August 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2015 I also drink Mt. Dew. It was not as easy to find as the Coke products when we were in Sydney, but it is there.
linanles Posted August 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2015 You should find Mountain Dew in a Coles Supermarket. There is one at 388 George Street within walking distance of Circular Quay.
Kiwi_cruiser Posted August 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2015 You should also be able to find Mountain Dew in most supermarkets in New Zealand.
GUT2407 Posted August 20, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2015 Really shouldn't have any problem getting due, not all shops and restaurants but many. But only Original, you will struggle to find caffeine free, never seen diet here once saw the one with extra caffine. BTW those suggesting Coles, that is a supermarket, so large 1.25 liter bottles and packs of 24 cans, not cold ready to drink.
GUT2407 Posted August 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2015 I am not sure you will get American style Lemonade, but try Lemon Squash or Solo, that might satisfy but it won't be the same.
cassamanda Posted August 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2015 Our Lemonade equates to 7Up or similar flavour soda pop.
Jacs Posted August 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2015 What we call lemonade is like your 7Up, so carbonated clear beverage with a non discript citrus taste lol. It's a generic discription for multiple brands. We also have lemon squash which is like carbonated lemon flavoured drink. Proper US style lemonade (not sparkling, made with real lemons, sugar and water) isn't really drunk much here so isnt common in stores, but there is a brand called Charlie's real lemonade that tastes like what I've had in the US, there is traditional lemonade but also raspberry and lemon and maybe some other flavours too. You can buy it in supermarkets in the chilled beverage section (near the fruit juices).
Kiwi Kruzer Posted August 20, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 20, 2015 You might also like to try some of our local and unique soft drinks (sodas), eg The Bundaberg range... and the world famous Kiwi drink.... now being made around the world by CocaCola. jehane Posted August 21, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 21, 2015 What do I have to order to get US style lemonade? Your options are (1) get lemon squash and let it go flat, (2) make your own (perhaps bring the powder sachets), (3) try lemon cordial. You might also like to try some of our local and unique soft drinks (sodas), Lemon lime and bitters!

Lemon lime and bitters! The Bundy Lemon Lime and Bitters is good. But I actually like Lemonade Lime and Bitters, the sweet Lemonade complements the tang of the kite and the bitters. As an aside anyone seen Bitters onboard.

They may not have the Bundy LL&B , but any barman would mix one for you. They use Bitters when mixing a "Pink Gin" ...:D:D

danakazz Posted August 21, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 21, 2015 As an American that has lived here for many years, you will not find lemonade here. On the odd occasion you might, but probably not and the soft drink options are no substitute. SOL
Floridiana Posted August 21, 2015 #17 Share Posted August 21, 2015 I am all for trying the flavors of the country I visit. It's an important part of the travel experience. That's why you Australians have to taste Root Beer when you come visit us. ;)
