Why do you like Carnival over other cruise lines

First, Ports of Call. They go where we prefer to go, the southern Caribbean. Yes others might go part way there but apparently not when and how we want to go.

Second, our dislike for other lines. RCL offended us and frankly my husband found the passengers all to be snobbish bores. NCL left us with a bad a taste when our last ride with them showed a visible decrease in quality.

Third, price. As services and cruising atmosphere degrades away from the traditional experience we grew to love, we don't see paying too much for what the american business model has turned cruising into.

Same here. And while I am a professional, for some reason, Carnival just feels more down to home. Did I enjoy my Celebrity cruise? Absolutely. But I miss the warm chocolate melting cake, the towel animals and I miss the drunk people watching!

While I agree with most of what you say, "drunk people watching" can be done on ANY mainstream cruise line, you make it sound as if it only is available on CCL!!!

With that being said, we keep coming back to CCL (altho less and less lately) due to:

Pricing

Cabin Size

Better Food (in general)

The military has the term "target rich environment". From what I've read on the Carnival threads, they are a target rich environment for drunk watching :D

My family has been on both Disney and Carnival and my kids chose Carnival for our next cruise because of price and itinerary. We get 2 weeks and 6 new ports for them for the same price as Disney. The water slides are better on Carnival in their opinion as well. My DH and I don't see a big enough difference in service, food, and entertainment to not agree that 2 weeks and for us 3 new ports than the same 1 week itinerary over and over again isn't a better deal.

I've sailed RCCL, CCL, NCL and Holland America. I want to try Celebrity. honestly, I would say that RCCL is my "favorite" line, I'm Platinum with them. I prefer the food and the entertainment on RCCL. That being said, I have been cruising a lot more with CCL ... mainly because of the cheaper fares, expanded port availability (makes it easier to have options of what port to fly to) and also the sheer CHOICE of ports since they have the most ships of any line.

people complaining about "losing things like Chocolates on pillows" - I would say that in order to give you the "value" you love, they have to cut corners somewhere. No different than getting little or no amenities (like shampoo) when you stay in a La Quinta Inn, vs. getting average ones when you stay in Holiday Inn, and REALLY nice ones when you stay in a Hyatt. The way I look at it, CCL is a line for the "budget conscience" cruiser, and they don't give you as many "frills" as RCCL or NCL, but they also charge you a lot less initially to get on "most" of their ships. I will say that some 7 day itineraries have similar fares as other lines, so if you are going on a 7+ day cruise be sure to check other lines -

That being said, CCL is still a GREAT line ... and for what you pay (as little as $75 a day or less if U get a good deal) you can't beat it!!!!! Where else can you get all the food, entertainment, journey to distant ports, and a nice room to sleep in for that price?????????????? Ummmm, no land-based vacation can possibly compare.

... If you want chocolate on the pillows, just order an extra "Melting Chocolate Cake" from the MDR and have DH or DW take it to the room after dinner. I'll take that over a small piece of chocolate, ANYTIME :):):):):)

Price. Definitely price. I also have been enjoying the broader choices of Caribbean itineraries Carnival offers over the offerings of other lines lately. I mainly cruise for being on the sea and the Carnival Ships I have sailed all have had many comfortable areas for sea viewing.

I asked DH and his reply: It's the biggest bang for your buck AND those solid gold plastic ships on a stick!

Let it Ride in the casino! My Mom MUST have Let it Ride in the casino.

I like other cruise lines, but most no longer have Let it Ride!

I am now Platinum due to my Moms desire for Let it Ride! LOL

I always find the best deals at Carnival! I love the entertainment, all of the fun activities scheduled, all of their amazing staff, and their large variety of delicious food. My favorite are the Deli, Coffee Shop, Iguana Cantina, omelette station, and Italian restaurant(I ate there for dinner for the first time, and it is absolutely delicious. I had always eaten lunch there before.)

Way less fun on Celebrity. We mostly saw the older guys sitting by themselves, having a drink, while waiting for their wives, or people playing cards while drinking. No shenanigans, although the bartenders were awesome.

On Carnival...and yes, I've been one of those people that I'm sure people were watching [emoji6]...way more entertaining. Love watching the bachelor/bachelorette parties, doing shots with other couples...and most of the time, becoming friends with other folks. Carnival just feels more down home.

I live the energy on carnival just fun and relaxing. I have only been on rccl once and carnival 18 so far so not really fair it's just that the one rccl cruise I was on was awful food and passengers I suppose time of year was probably a factor. I have booked harmony of the Seas for Jan 201 7 so maybe that'll change my opinion of rccl oh most of all the price I figure as long as I'm having a great time on carnival why pay a premium for rccl was booked on oasis may2016 and canceled it yesterday because of a great deal on the magic I couldn't pass up $$$ I'd rather do 4 cheaper cruises a year then a couple more expensive ones

I have sailed twice on RCCL (loved one cruise and really did not enjoy one) Platinum on Princess (4 great cruises and one that is in the bottom 2) 19 cruises total, 12 with Carnival. I am 50 and my DW is 51.

Carnival just feels like home to me. The crew is so welcoming, consistently across the fleet. Room Stewards are so friendly, always call you out by name. Dining room staff gets to know you and oftentimes anticipates your needs before you ask. I personally love the dancing waiters, but I know some don't, but here again, this makes it the Fun Ship! Cruise directors infuse energy into the air. I've seen energy mentioned a lot! Yes, the energy on Carnival is great, it really is the fun ship!

On the subject of the Fun Ship, in my opinion, Carnival in general, attracts a more fun clientele than say Princess. It seems to me that the guests are happier and more fun loving than on other lines, and as others have said, I love to people watch!

I love the ships and their layout. Of the older ships, I appreciate their uniqueness, and the newer ships, I love the modern edge they are adding, but still keeping with the basics that made Carnival. The public spaces are colorful and lively and just make you happy.

I see it mentioned about the "old shows" a lot. I am on the other side of the coin I guess. I love the playlist shows. They have so much visually going on and seem so much more "up to date". Epic Rock was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Other fun shows are Studio VIP, 88 Keys, and 80's Pop to the Max. Hasbro is great for fun families and kids and I find it fun to watch.

Many comedy shows on each sailing, both PG 13 and Adult. I really think this is unique to Carnival.

Trivia abounds, most ships have many trivia games per day.

On the newer ships, love the Red Frog Pub, the Lido deck with Guys Burgers, and the Ocean Plaza. Sunshine has a wonderful Serenity area and the Havana Bar is really cool.

Piano Bars can be so much fun, or not so much fun. It is really dependent on the entertainer.

The cabins are the best at sea. The most room and the most storage. I like to unpack and get organized to make the cabin feel like home. Always have storage space to spare on Carnival. The lighting in the cabin is also the best at sea, brightest rooms there are with all the lights on. Of topic, I was recently on the Regal Princess and really could not believe the lack of storage, also, on Princess in general, I don't like the open concept closet. i like my clothes put away out of site. It just feels cluttered to me, but I am a bit of an organizational freak, lol.

Itineraries: 3 or 4 years ago we were growing tired of the same ole itineraries, but I feel like Carnival has listened to us and added new ports and longer cruises. Next two cruises are 11 and 10 days.

Food: In general, I find the food just as good as any other line in the main dining room and specialty restaurants. Lido buffet, well what can I say, a buffet is a ..... buffet.

Value for Money: If you are shopping around well in advance for an upcoming cruise, as I have to due to work, then you can almost always find a great deal. For example, we booked the Carnival Dream for a Journeys Cruise in October and got a lido balcony for less than $65 pp per day! Cheaper than a nice hotel, plus all the food you want and free entertainment!

I am sure I have forgotten things, but there are so many things going on and so many choices, i think you would have to try to not have fun.
