Irons on river cruise??

I know that irons are not allowed on ocean cruises but what about river cruises? We will be sailing on the Avalon Felicity in mid September.

From the Avalon FAQ on their website:

 

"For safety reasons, we ask that passengers do not iron their clothes in the staterooms as this is a safety hazard; the laundry service will do pressing for a fee"

In case someone comes to this thread searching about irons on other lines: Uniworld has free washers and dryers on their ships and - at least in the case of the River Princess and the River Empress which we were on last month - an ironing board and iron in the laundry room.

AMA doesn't allow you to bring a clothes iron and doesn't provide them for passenger use, but they ironed a pair of pants for 1.5 Euro: we left it in the room when we went to breakfast, and it was back before lunch.

Just wear wrinkled clothes. Nobody cares! :eek:

 

I don't even iron at home so why would I waste my time on a cruise? :confused:

We have a hand steamer that always travels with us.

Avalon doesn't have irons and doesn't allow them in the cabins, but you can send out your things to be pressed if you want. I thought the pricing was pretty reasonable for Europe! We sent out a lot of clothes for dry cleaning and the turn-around time was 24 hrs.

So many interesting things to do on a river cruise....ironing isn't one of them. Don't worry if you have a few wrinkles-so will everyone else.

I always carry Downy Wrinkle Release and hang wrinkled things in the bathroom during shower time. Usually does the trick.

Yes but wouldn't it be great if we could get rid of "those wrinkles" as easily and quickly as we can take care of clothing wrinkles!:)
