Came across this remarkable 14 minute video taking us around the world on the 2014 Amsterdam 114-day Grand World Voyage. If anyone wants to get the feel for Holland America ships, this is the way to do it.

Hats off to a certain CHARLOTTE HOLLAND who put this whole thing together in one grand sweep of a trip of a lifetime video. Tears in my eyes when it was time to say goodby too.

Thanks to bonvoyagebites for her HAL "foodporn" link that lead to the above RTW video:

Another winning home video production.

Great job on the video. Not been on a world voyage but have traveled in bits and pieces so great to see some of our favorite ports and places. Thanks for sharing and triggering our memories. May you continue to have safe adventures all over the world.

I like the way Ms Holland clustered their 114 day RTW cruise video into different topics; instead of merely chronological. The sped up photography added a lot to the vibrancy of the whole show. Just plain fun to watch.

Wherever you are today Charlotte Holland (hmmmm ...any relationship?), brava. You can replace the entire HAL marketing team.

Thanks for sharing these memories! Weird to see yourself in a video that you never knew was being taken, but fun. It was such a wonderful cruise and we had such a great time!

That must be something to see yourself. Particularly since everyone can now record anything, anywhere. That did look like a great ...and happy ... trip. Did you know the person who shot this video?

How well do fellow RTW trippers get to know each other by the time 114 days go by -- assuming there are new passengers from time to time coming in for shorter segments.

My parents also ended up in the background of some stranger's Christmas photo taken at the Great Wall of China, and were recognized by a mutual friend.

And that was back in the days of 35mm film when you had to parcel out which shots you took or not. When one of the biggest travel expenses was getting the pictures developed when you got back home.

Thanks for sharing the Food Porn video. I just spotted your thread. I am glad to hear people like the video. It was only our second video, so hopefully the next one will be even better. :)

This world of home made videos provides a much more realistic view of what to expect than the cruise line marketing brochures. Amazing now what one can find and yours ranks right up there with the best of them.

On our very early cruises I remember feeling very intimidated by the alleged formality of Crystal Cruise Lines from their written guidelines and display photos - it almost looked like black tie for breakfast, or be banned. And another cruise line that showed female passengers all dressed in twin-sets and skirts during the day. But when we finally got real glimpses of those ships either through their own live onboard video cams or passenger created videos, one got a very different impression and could pack accordingly.
