OMG! I Booked A Cruise Solo

I recently completed my first solo cruise since 1969. My plan was to meet as many people as I could so there wouldn't be to much alone time. The entire cruise was fantastic (Voyage of the Vikings) with a great itinerary, but the best part were the wonderful people who shared this cruise with me. We laughed and sometimes cried together. It would have been even better if it were almost free like yours. Fate has smiled on you.

Oh Trish! I'm crying happy tears for you right now. What a beautiful gift and way to remember Virgil. I'm so very very happy for you.

Thanks Mary, I almost called you today but you have been so ill I didn't want to bother you. Maybe we can all meet for lunch or something I am in Honolulu two days. Give the girls love from Auntie Trish.:)

What great news! There are usually some singles/solos events on board HAL ships that I find helpful in meeting others on board. These get togethers increase the number of people that I can say hello to as I participate in activities around the ship. The itinerary for this cruise looks fabulous. Have a wonderful cruise.

We have never met but I have been reading your posts for years. I am so pleased to see you have decided to try a cruise on your own and that you will be able to fulfill one of your husband's wishes. It will give you a sense of peace.

All the best to you and please let us know how you make out.

Am delighted to have read about your good fortune. I have been sailing solo since my Husband passed away in 1998. Do enjoy the beautiful South Pacific.

Am glad you are able to make Virgil's wishes come true. I did likewise for my husband in Canadian waters on an Alaska cruise on the Statendam in 98. Will look forward to your report once you are home.:)

Yesterday I received an email offer that was too good to be true. I just got off the phone with HAL and it is true. :D

I just booked the 47 day Tales of The South Pacific and all I have to pay is taxes, port fees and HSC. The cabin is free. Yeah, really gratis. It's a casino offer. I couldn't pass this up. Seriously, a 47 day cruise for a total of $757.51!!! I can even take a guest if I choose. And that price includes insurance. I know it is gauche to speak about pricing but hey, this is amazing.

It is like a small miracle for me as I never thought I would get the opportunity to take Virgil's ashes to Bora Bora as he wanted but saved some in case. Now I can. :)

I am so excited and somewhat intimidated as I've never cruised alone - but hey world here I come!

You go girl!! Happy for you and your incredible offer....And to take your dear husbands ashes to Bora Bora is so wonderful...You will have an awesome time.

I think it's great you are taking this adventure. One night after we met a a 'new' widow on board, we discussed this. The DH didn't think he could do a cruise. I told him it was a great opportunity for a 'single woman;-- a cocoon, not having to worry about travelling between places without knowing the local people. But also, that on Holland America, it's like a family. Good luck, enjoy your trip. Wish I could get one for that price, unfortunately, I rarely even buy a lottery ticket, let alone do a casino,
