quick casio question

Do the slots on the Valor take quarters? I know this may sound like a stupid question, but we are not big players, but do enjoy playing some in the Casio. We have saved a bunch of quarters to blow during our cruise, all rolled up, with a nightly budget of $50. Just wondering if we should change them into bills?

Any tips on what slots to play? Also as a new player what table games would you suggest? We had planned on learning roulette but I read somewhere that they raised the minimum to $10 so that probably placed that out of our reach. This part would be separate from our slots budget, cause I know $50 probably won't last long at the tables.

Thanks

Rob

Well, lets see. Roll of quarters are $10, right? Five rolls a night for a 7 night cruise?

That's a lot of quarters to pack in your bags.

Just take cash, go to the casino cage and get rolls of quarters from them.

But wait, when you cash out, they will give you a credit back on your Sail & Sign card.

So you will have to go back and get more quarters.

That should make you the best friend of the casino cage girl. She will just LOVE YOU.

They want you to use your S&S card, so just do that.

This is also my suggestion versus bringing a load of coins with you. Unless you have some concern that you won't be able to keep track of how much you're spending if you use S&S?

No they do not take coins. Change your quarters into bills before you board (much lighter). You will want to register your sign and sail card in a machine, (the hosts will help you). Put in your $50 for the night. AT the end of the night, if you have credits you will download them onto your sail and sign card and you can keep them there for the next night or go to the cashier and collect your winnings.

wierd way of doing it but i understand with S&S. The casinos here in Black Hawk, Colorado used to take penny's, quarters, nickels, silver dollars, paper $1, $5 bla bla bla. and when you cash out or each time you won some money it would spit out that amount in what the machine was you were playing like quarters, nickels or silver dollars ect. ect. ect. it was very noisy with constant coins dropping into the metal bin in front of the machine. If you won a decent amount on a spin or you cash out with a LOT of credits it took a LOOONG time for the slot to poop out 1 coin at a time for $500 cash out everyone carrying around these buckets of quarters looking for a machine to play was pretty entertaining sometimes.

Then vending machines, like pop machines, started kicking back quarters with the smooth edges and it became a problem with money counters, vending machines, coin op laundry ect ect. Everyone then changed the slot machines to take paper bills or printed vouchers only and when you cash out only the printed vouchers with the dollar amount would print out of the machines. Take this voucher to another machine and insert it into the slot and you would then have that amount in credits show on the screen. Basically they caught up with Vegas style slots. But all the casinos in Black Hawk and Central City in Colorado no longer have slots that take coins anymore. its feed it a paper bill or voucher and get back a voucher. if your done for the day, take the voucher to the banker or one of the many ATM like machines on the casino floor and feed it the voucher and it spits out the exact dollar amount in cash. much easier then carrying around buckets of quarters when you move to a new machine. Surprised casinos on Carnival ships don't do this printed voucher type slots too instead of just feed it coins or paper money or S&S and then your winning end up going on your S&S card only. I'd like to have my winnings in cash. If i win a decent amount now its stuck on my S&S card till last night or morning of cruise?? Maybe I want that winning cash for shore excursions or shopping at one of the ports.

There is one machine that takes quarters. You drop them down a shoot and when enough of them build up on the shelf at the bottom, it pushes some of the quarters out to you. There are prizes sitting on the shelf too---ranging from carnival key chains to bundles of cash. There is a dollar bill changer nearby but you could bring a roll of quarters for this machine if you want to.

I haven't been on the valor but assume they have it.

The push the quarters over the edge machine is the only one that I've seen that takes quarters and there is usually a change machine nearby.

All the slots are primed and ready to take your paper money from a dollar to a hundred dollar bill and/or charge your S&S card, while quarters are not legitimate currency on them.

If you want to bet low Take $1s or $5s and feed them in the machines. Much easier than taking a bunch of quarters. (Which I'm pretty sure they don't take anyway) you can also get change at the cashier so if you take a $50 for the night they will break it down to whatever denomination you want. And if your lucky and need to cash out 😀 just tell the cashier how you want your $.

Btw, I'm old and miss the days of hearing the change come out of the machines. I don't miss the black fingers though. ;)

I know what you mean but when you cash out, the machine does play that clinking sound of coins dropping into the tray. I know, it isn't nearly the same but it's something at least. ;) And the dirty fingers... yeah, yuk!!

In the casino you create a separate account called your Player's Bank and the money associated with it is a separate account from your regular S&S account. When you cash out from the machine, you transfer your balance from that machine to your player bank. When you go to another machine you transfer money from the player bank to that machine so you can play.

If you have money on your player bank you can go to the cashier and cash out your player bank and take your money with you or you can leave it in the player bank to use another day. Just be sure that on the last night if you haven't cashed out your player bank that you do so before the casino closes that night because it doesn't transfer the money over to your regular S&S account.

Now that makes better sense and sounds just like the vouchers method they do in black hawk colorado. Much smarter way of keeping your casino monies separate from S&S account. Thank you for explaining that this really helps

They may not take quarters but they will take bills. Cash your quarters in for bills at home and just use what you want each night. You will make a players bank as was said above so you can either play that down to 0 then put a bill in machine or put bill in as you start each night then save to bank at end of night.
