Keeping guarantee cabin

We received our guarantee cabin assignment and are very pleased with the location and cabin.

 

Is it possible to request no further upgrades from HAL?

 

We know that cruise lines feel the higher decks are preferable, but we don't agree.

I don't know of any way to "lock in" your assignment, but in my experience re-assignments are pretty rare, especially since you are only 7 days away.

 

In 9 guarantees we were re-assigned once. The initial assignment came at 11 days out, and the move was at 3 days.

 

I wouldn't worry too much about being moved.

We have about 35 guarentees and have received a second cabin only 4 or 5 times, always to what we considered much better.

 

Not much chance, but if you do and don't like it, you could always ahve your TA make a fuss to get the original one back. Might work!

On one of our guarantees we were changed three times - on another it was twice. Both of these in the past year. In our case each change was to a better cabin (by our criteria) so no complaints here.

We got upgraded at the pier from an OV porthole to a LP below the MDR.

I see that you are cruising on Sept 29.

Just 7 days away.

Anything can happen. Maybe your TA can call HAL and tell them that you like your cabin and to do not want to be upgraded anymore.

I did email my TA last night and asked if he could request no more upgrades.

 

Got a response from him this morning saying we are locked into this cabin. YAY

 

He has always done his best for us. The sailing, however only has three cabins still available so it might have been pretty easy for HAL to have said yes!

 

It never hurts to ask though.
