Live (OMG!!) from Emerald Princess

Well I said I’d probably never do a “live from” report and here’s the proof.

Rome in Limo picked us up from our hotel in Rome (Albergo del Senato) for the transfer to Civitavecchia and despite heavy traffic bound for the beaches we were at the port in an hour.

A GREAT surprise awaited once we dropped off our luggage (E5 tip and the luggage stayed out of the harbor)

We checked in and immediately had our photos taken still on the pier. We were expecting a waiting room as we were early for the 1 pm boarding-but no….straight to the ship!! Hooray! Booked Sanctuary for that afternoon, for one half day in Cannes and full sea day.

Lunch in Da Vinci-not many pax there. Window table. Club Med II (5 master) and Ryndam was the view. Food a notch below the amazing Ruby in January.

Lifeboat drill @ 5.15 Club Fusion. Mostly Americans.

Left port 25 mins late- waited for Seadream II to turn. Tug held us away from Ryndam. Beautiful port. Divina there also. Great sunset.

Sailaway "party" a joke. Disinterested "DJ", no communicating excitement- he was flatlining so I called the medics. No banners, flags, fuss, or fun. Wake up Cruise Staff...

Dinner Crown grill- mad waiter must have had 6 Redbulls...wacky Bulgarian but had a laugh with him. Again food not to Ruby level but I'm being picky after Roman cooking for 2 days. Gave us back our "free dinner" card and said use it later in the week-will not argue with FREE.

Comedian Ricky Jay in Princess Theater- loud energetic but funny . 7 piece LIVE

band (Hooray!!!)

Today hot n sunny in Palermo. Took lots of photos and videos of the Trash Capital of Europe.

First cruise as Elite.

Internet= 19 th Century speed. Formal night (Sunday)

Norris, aft suite, 2 mini bar set ups= possibility of a hang-over.

Our friends,Vic and Arletta, are on the Emerald with you. If you run into them say hello from Nancy.

Tell them to introduce themselves- I am the guy walking around with a black Canon camera bag. I live in the smoking section of Tradewinds Bar.

Hello,

I actually love reading live or almost live review.

We where on the Emerald in August and had a wonderful time on a off the ship the only downside I thought was the entertainment onboard practically none or very boring and outdated.

The MUTS must say was great all week we actually thought that was the best place to hang out and not waste our time trying to like the other boring stuff offered to us from the entertainment group.

To us the food was very good and love the new chocolate experience on some nights.

Keep in touch.

Sea ya

Eric

Hmm, I see no mention of "paused before eating to take food porn shots for Annie" . . .

I hope the Senato was as wonderful as I remember. You've made me wish I were in Rome right this minute. Bummer you went to Palermo again -- so much more that's better of Sicily. Have a fantastic voyage!

Hello from the Emerald too, the sail way party did not exist, to be fair no one showed up, but I'm not sure how many new passengers boarded in Civit. Over 1000 elites onboard so we had a letter explain to us the laundry could take up to 72 hours. All the same otherwise. In Solerno today, I'm not sure why Princess have chosen here rather than Naples, if your just getting of for a stroll its a far nicer port.

Hello Norris-

I am wishing you and Carol an enjoyable vacation.

I am getting the impression that your time,so far, has not been too impressive.

Hoping things on board improve for you.

Just wondering if there are some excursions from Palermo to a beach resort area or any interesting towns/villages outside of Palermo.

Looking forward to you posting photos of the Emerald and the ports you visit.
