jpennin217 Posted October 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2015 I hear that they are going to try out biscuits and grave on the Breeze. Has anyone tried them yet? Im assuming they will be on the Lido deck. Hopefully they will have them in December for us to try out.

cb at sea Posted October 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2015 If you're from the south, you'll love them....biscuits and sausage gravy..yum!
Jenhem31 Posted October 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2015 They didn't have them 3 weeks ago. I'm curious to try them as well.
ready2cruzagain Posted October 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 3, 2015 I am afraid they would probably destroy them. Not just anyone can make biscuits and gravy right. I was on an NCL cruise and they had biscuits and gravy and they were the worst I have ever eaten.
Zymologist Posted October 3, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 3, 2015 I had them on the Sunshine in September. It was not typical southern sausage gravy and buttermilk biscuits. The gravy was ok, but bland. The biscuits were terrible. Very dense and tough.

You could bounce the biscuits off of the wall and they wouldn't even crack.
Rala Posted October 4, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 4, 2015 If you're from the south, you'll love them....biscuits and sausage gravy..yum! If they were from the South they would already know what they are. :roll eyes: If the biscuits are light and fluffy and the gravy has an adequate amt. of good sausage and is seasoned well, they are tasty. Like many foods, if not made well with good ingredients, biscuits and gravy are dreadful. I suspect cruise ship biscuits and gravy might fall into the latter category. ;):)
nchikk Posted October 4, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 4, 2015 I expect the gravy to be made by adding water to a powder of some sort and don't hold out much hope that it'll be any good. That being said, I hope I'm wrong.

lagienomai Posted November 27, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 27, 2015 Getting closer to our cruise. Has anyone tried these yet? On my cruise on the Sunshine in October I saw the biscuits and they were so overdone and hard as a rock that I didn't bother with the gravy. I love biscuits and gravy but I think this is a fail. Boozebabe Posted November 27, 2015 #13 Share Posted November 27, 2015 I've never had good biscuits and gravy from a buffet anywhere. Give me Bob Evans or my own. Gravy needs LOTS of good sausage and biscuits need to be very fluffy. Nuff said.

SMSACE6 Posted November 28, 2015 #16 Share Posted November 28, 2015 They still cant make good cornbread, so I don't think they will do biscuits and gravy well either. JMO, and I am a northerner, so I can live without both, but I do enjoy good cornbread and a good biscuit (sans gravy);):D

That being said, I hope I'm wrong. You would be surprised that a lot of places use a gallon can of prepared sausage gravy. Then they add their own fresh sausage that has already been cooked, leave a little grease in, you can't tell the difference. I embarrassed myself, a time that I made us pass up a comp breakfast before leaving to come home from a casino. Husband is from New Jersey, me, Texas. I know the casino gravy tastes like paste so insisted we stop at a cracker barrel on the way home. It was just as bad! He never knew as won't eat red neck food, but I knew and never mentioned it.:o

I was on an NCL cruise and they had biscuits and gravy and they were the worst I have ever eaten. LOL! I was just going to post the same thing. Just came off the BA 2 weeks ago and no matter how much I doctored up the stuff I couldn't get it to the point of being edible! The biscuits were dry and tasteless. The gravy tasted raw flour and water. So gross.
Retired_to_Cruise Posted November 28, 2015 #20 Share Posted November 28, 2015 Biscuits and gravy is the most abused breakfast dish in the world. Most times all you end up with is wallpaper paste and rocks. Most places that try to make it more edible by offering the Southern Benedict miss the boat. I will never again waste the time and money to be disappointed. Not worth it.
