Allure - Entertainment and Dinner Coordination

 Share

Recommended Posts

Our entertainment opened up last week and so now I'm looking at times we'd like to book our dinner (we're on My Time). I suspect it'll be awhile before we can book, but I want to be prepared for when it does open up. So a few questions:

  1. Anyone know how long the Sail Away Parade is? i.e. would dinner at 6pm be do-able?
  2. If an event finishes at 5:45pm in Studio B, would 6pm dinner be do-able?
  3. If an event finishes at 5:45pm in Amber theatre, would 6pm dinner be do-able?
  4. Can you book My Time at whenever you want, or are certain times blocked out? (I thought I had read in other posts that people couldn't book during times....but that could have been a different ship, or perhaps they didn't book right away and certain times were taken)
  5. Are they lenient if you arrive a few minutes late? Or do you lose your booking?

I believe My Time Dining is on deck 3. I've located the theatres, but it's still hard to tell how long it'll take to get from point A to point B.

PS -My understanding is that it's better to book dinner as early as possible to avoid waiting (even if reserved a time)

Yes, in the case of the first night seating takes longer than the other nights. I always felt planning on Allure helps. In the case of the theater, get there early, get a seat in the balcony near the aisle, this will make for a quick get away. Then you have to walk the length of the ship and then you may have to go up or down a deck. Walk the length first, many people will head for the first elevator. If the promenade or Casino looks crowded use the stairs one level and avoid it.

We were able to schedule more things around dinner. The only close call was the show Chicago (I know its not there any more), it was a long show and it was scheduled to end just as 2nd seating dinner was starting. We did tell our waiter our plans and told him, don't hold up taking orders and appetizers for us, if we are 5-10 minutes late we can skip those. But with the plan above we got there right on time.

Thanks for the replies. Always very helpful when you've never been on the ship before. :)

The Amber theatre one is for Blue Planet. Normally for a show I like to sit up close, but I've heard that one is better in the balcony so you are not straining your neck. Good tip...so we'll just walk to the other end first and then down to the dinner level (I guess at Blue Planet we'll be deck 4 or 5).

We booked a 5pm show for Mamma Mia (instead of Chicago). Not sure yet if we'll have dinner in the MDR that night or grab a snack before and something small afterwards. We're coming with kids (10.5 and 6.5 years), so eating a full dinner at 8pm may not work so well.

Anyone know about the sail away parade?

The computer requires a two hour window between dinner reservations & entertainment. Deleted all my entertainment Last year when I booked 7:30pm dinner resi. This year we are booking all entertainment pre cruise. Once onboard we will make specialty resi for first night often bogo then walk in MTD at our leisure the rest of the week. Something new for us. I usually have everything reserved to the minute but giving up structure for a week.

I will be on the Allure in a month. I can report back as to when it was it you want. I am on an Eastern route so not sure if it is the same as yours or not. I assume that they would be the same either way.

Thank you !!! I have been searching and cannot find anywhere about the sail away parade. Really appreciate it. We're also doing Eastern so same timing.

Enjoy your cruise!

OMG..that's scary. Did it give you a warning that it was going to delete your entertianment? I would be so upset. I wonder if they will let you book dining otherwise if you book while on board? We're coming wtih kids so trying not to make nights "too" late for them between dinner and a show.

Yes it did. I don't think you can book a resi onboard or pre cruise within a 2 hour window but Windjammer & walk in ok.

Too bad. I guess I'll just book the 2hr window then. There is one night we'll have to grab dinner elsewhere, but otherwise, we do like the MDR experience. It makes it feel more like holiday rather than self service (and no plans to try specialty restaruants)
