ashevillenccruiser Posted October 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Hello folks We are traveling by car through Florida to Ft Lauderdale. We are wondering if the Toll Rd (Turnpike) makes for an easier drive. We understand the additional cost, but given the length of the drive, we are willing to pay it if it holds value. We are specifically wondering about Jupiter down to FLL. Thanks for your thoughts.....

BlueHerons Posted October 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Are you coming down through Orlando? If so, yes take the turnpike all the way down. If you are coming down via I95, no I would not jump on the turnpike. The last place it is easy to get on and off is through Stuart.
cruisequeen007 Posted October 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2015 We take the Florida Turnpike to Fort Pierce then I95 the rest of the way.

Capt_BJ Posted October 24, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 24, 2015 (edited) It is worth every penny. it ain't worth a dime, and takes you out of your way .... if heading to POM you have to get back on 95 once you hit the Dade county line anyway. Diver2014 Posted October 26, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) We still live in Miami but are moving to South Carolina this week. We've been making trips back and forth and found this: avoid I 95 around Ft Lauderdale and Miami - take the turnpike. Once out of the metropolitan area, we change over to I 95 at Indiantown Road (exit 116 on the turnpike, exit 87 on I 95). I 95 and the turnpike are right next to each other there and it's an easy on - off in both directions. Get a Sunpass for the turnpike ahead of time (at CVS or any grocery store) and yes, if you are going to the ports, you will have to get back on I 95 at some point. Just gave it to a co-worker heading south on business.
