jamscckmc Posted October 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2015 I just saw a great cabin on a cruise I've been watching. My PVP is off now. I called Carnival to put a 24hr hold and then would book with my PVP tomorrow. The rep said that if she put the 24 hr hold the booking was then hers and could not be transferred. If I book it myself can I then transfer to my PVP? Anyone ever done this ? Thanks!
soccersharon Posted October 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2015 I've easily transferred 24-hour holds to my TA. Not sure why it wouldn't work internal to Carnival?
ATL_Miami_Cruiser Posted October 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) Your PVP will cancel the existing 24 hour hold booking and create a new booking. I've done this in the past and it was the only way my PVP could get credit for the online booking. Get the 24 hour hold online yourself and call your PVP in the morning. Rare Tapi Posted October 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2015 Whoever gets the credit card number, gets the credit for the booking. As mentioned above, place the hold and then your PVP will handle it tomorrow to ensure that he gets credit for it.
jamscckmc Posted October 16, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted October 16, 2015 How do you do a 24hr hold on line? I don't see the option. Thanks!
Heartkrazy Posted October 16, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 16, 2015 How do you do a 24hr hold on line? I don't see the option. Thanks! You have to book the cruise. Once you've filled in all the passenger info & go to checkout you will see the option to hold for 24 hours.

WPTNGirl Posted October 16, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 16, 2015 Be sure and do the 24hour hold online, not by phone by the PVP who gets your call. If your PVP is still not available when the hold expires, do another online 24 hour hold.
bakersdozen12 Posted October 16, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 16, 2015 If you've already doing the exact cruise you want (dates, ship, itinerary, room, etc), then what's the reason of needing a PVP to book it? Why not just book yourself? I get that somethings TA's will offer you something extra to book with them, but I thought with a PVP you are getting the same rate you would get of you booked yourself online. jamscckmc Posted October 16, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted October 16, 2015 My PVP has been very helpful. He has found better staterooms than I see online. He only calls me when there is a casinos offer. It's different than a regular TA because you can call Carnival and manage your booking. You don't have to go through your TA to make changes. Always surprised when your pvp doesnt automatically get credit.
Rare Tapi Posted October 18, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 18, 2015 If you've already doing the exact cruise you want (dates, ship, itinerary, room, etc), then what's the reason of needing a PVP to book it? Why not just book yourself? If you've ever made your own booking and then called the 800-Carnival number to make the smallest change, and the agent answering the phone is the agent from hell that has no clue what they are doing, you'll know the reason why it's nice to have a PVP, specially one that you've already been working with, who is knowledgeable, who knows your preferences, and who makes the entire process that much easier and personal. jh2360 Posted October 18, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 18, 2015 Is there any benefit to using the same PVP?

jh2360 Posted October 18, 2015 #16 Share Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) Read Tapi's post and you will have your answer. Read both of their posts on this thread before I posted my question. Still don't see the benefit. I can easily book my own cruise online. Or find a TA who is offering OBC when Carnival isn't. Unless there is some hidden benefit to a PVP, I'll take the better deal wherever it comes from. Edited October 18, 2015 by jh2360

I've had to call up Carnival's 800 number several times, and not only have they been extremely helpful, they've literally been the nicest CS reps that I have ever dealt with from any company. But then again, I wasn't asking them to bend the rules for me, so maybe that's why my experiences were pleasant. Too many times I hear people complain about Carnival customer service, and more often than not, it's because Carnival wouldn't make an exception to a rule that they agreed to when booking.
