Bill S Posted September 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2005 I guess the Mexican Riviera cruise season has started in full swing: there are 3 ships in San Diego today, 2 of them are HAL S-class, both with SOE enhancements. Which ones are they?
K&RCurt Posted September 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2005 According to http://www.cruisecal.com They are the ms Ryndam and ms Zaandam.
Esme Posted September 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2005 One is the Zaandam and the otheris the Ryndam. I found these in the 4/05 to 4/07 Caribbean, Mexio & Panama Canal cruise brochures. Pages 61 (Ryndam) and 73 (Zaandam) Ryndam is starting her 10 day Mexican Riviera cruises and Zaandam heading to FLL.
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted September 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2005 That really is a pretty sight:D and to think we will be there in 10 days. Yes, I am now officially getting REALLY EXCITED:D :D :D :D
RevNeal Posted September 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Looking at the shot of the Zaandam, I cannot say I like the forward windows they've plopped on the front there, on the lido deck forward of the gym.
Iggipolka Posted September 28, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2005 ohh..those lucky people getting on those ships. I bet they are already enjoying the drink of the day with their lunch in the lido. :D
rkacruiser Posted September 28, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Looking at the shot of the Zaandam, I cannot say I like the forward windows they've plopped on the front there, on the lido deck forward of the gym. http://www.revneal.org/zaandamforwardwindows.jpg I totally agree! And, from what I have read, they have done--and are doing--the same thing with the Rotterdam and Amsterdam. As one can see, the amount of forward exterior deck space has been drastically reduced. And, I am wondering if one will even be able to access the area. In revneal's picture, am I seeing some deck chairs besides the new Spa extension? And, it looks like something is piled up--more chairs, maybe?--by the stairs on the starboard side on the forward open deck under the Bridge. Whoever in Seattle approved the exterior design for the Spa extensions has no sense whatsoever for ship design, IMHO!
Bill S Posted September 28, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted September 28, 2005 OK Lisa, you have got to tell me how you posted that shot from the internet? Did you right click on it while on the webcam site?? Is that how you did it? Inquiring minds want to know!! I am such a computer dummy! :o
lawgeek Posted September 28, 2005 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Are the Ryndam and Zandam sister ships? if not, which is larger. I was just wondering because they seem to run similar routes during this season. Speaking of which, I am on the Ryndam 10/8 and wondered if anyone has a must do for Mexican Riviera...I prefer active activities! This is first "big ship" experience other than a weekend on the drunk boat to Ensenada. Thanx, Lawgeek Wind Spirit - Bahamas Star Clipper - Barbados and Lesser Antilles Monarch of the Seas - I don't remember much Wind Song (God rest her soul) - Tahiti and French Polynesia
lawgeek Posted September 28, 2005 #10 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Sorry, I meant the Oosterdam, not the Zaandam. There is just too Dam many of them!
jhannah Posted September 28, 2005 #11 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Zaandam is slightly larger than the Ryndam. 1440 passengers vs. 1228. The Volendam is a twin of the Zaandam.

Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted September 28, 2005 #13 Share Posted September 28, 2005 If you Zoom in right now to the Ryndam, under the life boats you can start to see people out there for the life boat drill:D I will be doing that in San Diego 10 days from right now, just a different "DAM" ship.:D
