Canadian Guider Posted October 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2015 I have been reading several post and it seems cruise ships dock at either Crown Bay or Havensight. Correct me if I am wrong. Does anyone know where Carnival Cruises dock? Is it possible to walk from the dock to Charlotte Amalie. How long of a walk? Is there a path or sidewalk? Can you also give any recommendations on historical points of interest in St. Thomas.
Ms411 Posted October 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2015 Carnival usually docks at Havensight which is also called WICO. It is about 1.5 miles to the town of Charlotte Amalie and is paved sidewalk all the way. Take the shortcut through Yacht Haven Grande. Blackbeard's Castle tour is a great way to revisit history. Tickets may be sold on your ship, or you can purchase direct. Check their website for schedule.
O2B@Cagain Posted October 24, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2015 The walk to town is flat, paved, and on the waterfront. Very easy. The Historical Trust also runs walking tours:http://stthomashistoricaltrust.org/ There are some very interesting old buildings in town including the St Thomas Synagogue http://synagogue.vi/ , the second oldest in the western hemisphere. We want to know where we will be to figure out what we want to do. It was at the tender dock in the heart of Charlotte Amalie. Tenders ran back and forth to the ship all day. The LAST tender was 30 minutes before sailing. It's actually quite convenient for any without mobility issues. LuLu

Ms411 Posted November 10, 2015 #21 Share Posted November 10, 2015 Most Holland America ships dock at Crown Bay. On very busy days they may dock elsewhere so check cruise dock sites like vinow dot com for cruise schedules.
O2B@Cagain Posted November 11, 2015 #22 Share Posted November 11, 2015 HAL, Princess, the Behemoths of the Seas all dock at Crown Bay. The rest of the Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Disney, etc. dock at Havensight. There can be changes, and on busy days, some may anchor out...

garnetpalmetto Posted February 11, 2016 #24 Share Posted February 11, 2016 Where did you find this? I want to check on mine that does in a few days. It can be found at VI Now (the link itself will be blocked but google US Virgin Islands Docking). For your cruise, Carnival Splendor will dock at Havensight along with Disney Fantasy and Regal Princess. Allure of the Seas and Westerdam will also call on St. Thomas that day but be docked at Crown Bay.
3Blessings Posted February 11, 2016 #25 Share Posted February 11, 2016 We will be docking at West Indian in April. We have a half day excursion booked from 1-4, is there a beach nearby that we could walk to after the excursion?
