Is this true???!!!

On another post I read that Carnival no longer gives you turn down service twice, that you choose am or pm is this true? When did this start if its true?

I also read they took away the lobster on less than 7 night cruises, is this also true? Are we able to purchase lobster and or a better steak on short cruises in the MDR for an uncharge?

I also read on a few posts that the Drinks on Us Card now applies to your Cheers maximum 15 drinks is this true?

If all of these are true, Carnival is going to loose our money and my family that travels with us such as my daughter and her bf and my father in law, that adds up a lot of money especially when we take a couple of carnival cruises each year.

I thought I read it was an option to have cabin service once a day if you choose.

There are some who don't require service twic daily however I believe you still can get it.

It's looks to be a test being done on just a few ships.

The cabin service is a pilot program on 3 ships right now that gives you a choice of once or twice a day service. If you only want the steward to come in once, they won't be "wasting" their time on someone who doesn't require their service.

Lobster is only on cruises longer than 5 days now. Don't know if you can get it for an upcharge, but I'm thinking not.

You never got "turn down" service twice a day, ever. Got a morning cabin service where the bed(s) were made, towels changed (if on the floor), and light cleaning. And also got an evening service which included "turn down" service and towel replacement if required. On the test ships, you can chose Morning Service, Evening Service, or BOTH. If your selection card has only two check boxes (Morning, Evening), then check them both if you want both.

The other two would not be a decision maker for using a cruise line for any reasonable adult.

What are the test ships?

True, morning isn't turn down its light cleaning which we love and we love the turn down service, but mainly to get fresh towels.

I think everybody here did very well with answering my questions...as far as the drinks on us being applied to the Cheers, then we not getting anything special (being recognized as better players) because we always purchase the Cheers program we don't want to be limited to getting a drink, soda or water just in the casino...now Carnival needs to give those who get the drinks on us program and do purchase the Cheers a discount on the Cheers program, I say thats fair.

Too bad John Heald isn't here to answer this... sighs.

John Heald will answer these and other questions on his Facebook page but we can't blame him for not coming here. He is very dislike here for reasons I'll never understand and frankly don't care to know why.

If they apply the drinks on us to the Cheers program what is the incentive we getting nothing extra, this is why I mentioned give those who get a drinks on us card some other type of incentive, whether its a few dollars in casino cash, or a few dollars off the Cheers program...something.

Those who do get the Drinks on Us card do gamble more than those who don't get the card, so to me, they play and spend more.

Ask your casino Host for some other "type" of compensation. I get offered the DOU card several times but I don't drink. So I finally asked the Host if there was something else they could do for me.

They have sent wine to our table (for my other cruise mates), Chocolates to our room (for my wife, which was a big hit) and even gave me some casino chips (not regular chips) to play with once in a while.

Try it, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Besides, the Cheers program has nothing to do with the casino. Casino has "options" for extra incentives.

Your right, didn't see it that way until you mentioned the casino has nothing else to do with the Cheers program.

Yes, we always get wine a couple of nights at dinner, we get the chocolate covered strawberries, the pastries, the cookies, and on the Valor we got dinner at the steakhouse too. I have to admit Carnival casino does very well in recognizes its better/more players however you like to word it, but you get my point. Thanks.

He has answered the turn down service question numerous times.

I agree but the problem appears to be that the poster on the other thread stated that her room steward told her it was only once a day and to decide which "one" she wanted.

JH keeps stating that it is 2 times a day unless you request otherwise.

Here is a link to where the OP is talking about another person stating it was once a day. See post #5

Well since he has addressed it so many times saying that it is still twice a day, I conclude that one of several things happened. Either they misunderstood, the steward was being lazy and figured they could get away with it, or the poster is exaggerating as there seemed to be a few things, one being the mere existence of FTTF, that bothered them this cruise. The steward supposedly asked them in person as opposed to giving them a card to fill out (which as I understand it is proper protocol where this is being tested) so that is suspect right there and it's difficult to determine which one of those scenarios is true.

I don't let posts, reviews, or here say affect my decisions about whether or not I will sail a particular line. I go if/when I see a deal that I like. Then once I'm there, if I have a good time I will go back. If I don't, I won't.

Why would you need Cheers if you have a DOU card?

Right after we cruised on that horrible NCL Breakaway, they took away the lobster on every cruise even the week long ones. They do offer the free drink package but honestly, they must be cutting back or giving less or less quality of something else, nothing is for free. They also are the only cruise line that didn't have a meat carving daily, only the first day boarding and I not going to find out what else they cut back on, it was bad enough., this girl isn't going on NCL again and glad my family feels the same way!

Hello Yubbasutter- We like to have the convenience of getting a drink anywhere we are able to get one, not to be limited only to the casino. Also, if I am sitting at a loosing slot machine, I don't want to keep playing there waiting for my drink to come.

We just got off the Freedom. Twice daily service of the cabin. The bed was turned down every night and we got a towel animal every day. No more chocolates on the pillow.

Yes, it is true no lobster on the 5 night cruise in the MDR.

I might as well add my 2 cents worth.

First thing I want to say is I am not flaming anyone and not speaking about anyone specific.

Yes the question regarding once or twice per day stateroom service has been answered several times but many people don't spend much time on CC until they are ready to book, about to leave or have a problem. Easy to miss.

Like the turn down service, lobstergate was a hot topic for a while. Sorry folks Carnivals MDR lobsters really were not that good. And yes you can get a nice lobster in the MDR if you order from the "steakhouse selection" of the menu. This is available even on ships that don't have a steakhouse. It is not offered every night but it is there.

I don't have an answer for a "fair" solution to the DOU card if you also have Cheers. Thanks for the suggestion to simply ask for something else. I usually get the DOU card by day three. I don't drink more than one or two per day. Ask anyone that has sailed with me. For medical reasons I really shouldn't drink at all. Hubby and I really miss out on goodies on Premier cruises as he is diabetic and I really have to watch my sweet intake. So while we both have a DOU card waiting for us on a 7 day cruise we consume maybe 15 drinks for the two of us. We don't drink wine and can't eat the cookies or Chocolate covered strawberries.

So even though many of the goodies are going away or I can't take full advantage of those offered, I will still keep cruising.

I cruise to get away. It remains very affordable. Hubby and I did a quick three day week end to a resort in Louisiana to gamble. We spent more there on the Hotel and meals than five day off season balcony room on Carnival. And the food wasn't that good.

I don't gamble for perks. I gamble for the thrill. If I get perks great!

The 4 star hotel only had maid service once per day.

When I was a child and mother pulled into the service station for fuel and man or two in uniform ran out to fill the tank, wash the windshield and check under the hood and the pressure in the tires. I think gas was $0.19 per gallon. I paid $1.97 last week and I had to pump the gas, wash my own windscreen and put additional air into my tires.

So yes there will be less personal touches. You can't get 5 star treatment at 2 star prices.

Spring741 Thanks...I live with lupus and my other half has to be sugar free....I shouldn't be drinking either but I chose not to take biological medications (chemo meds and such) due to its horrible and worse side effects, so I like to have my cocktails when I am away, or my two glass of wine late in the evening at home lol.

We also don't gamble for perks but Carnival does a nice thing. We took our first Premier cruise this past May on the Valor 8 day southern caribbean, we won a cruise, I was so excited because that was the first thing I ever gotten for free, and I am 52 lol...needless to say, we had to take this cruise within three months time, well, we had two week Aruba trip planned and another land based trip so we didn't get to use it, but it did give me a smile thanks Carnival. But to be all honest, we won't ever do another premier cruise again, too many people in the casino, difficult to get a machine, the stakes are higher at the tables during these cruises, that be our last premier cruise, we rather just have regular casino offers or no offers.

NIATPac29-Well...Springs741 mentioned that there are evenings we can order the lobster or steak for an extra charge so I am good with that. I also was reminded by somebody else that the drinks on us card given by the casino has nothing to do with the cruise line so I dismiss that issue now. The turndown service ended up being false, everybody does get stateroom attendant twice a day so that is perfect, all is good now.
