Taking a suitcase ashore

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I will be doing Sydney to NZ on Voyager of the Seas over new year and was wondering whether I would be able to take a suitcase or two ashore in Dunedin (our first port of call) to give to my uncle?

Any clues?

I cant say Yay or Nay.....

I dont think any of us could..:)

but I would presume that there would be no problems. You would have to clear it with the Customs Officials , and as there is no cruise terminal in Port Chalmers I would presume the Officials would be on board or near the exit at the gangway.

I would not try and take it off when you first dock as there will be a rush and you wont be too popular if you hold up people rushing off to meet a tour.

Absolutely, you can take whatever you want off, just not food. They will ask you if you have any food and may spot check but you can take any bag you like ashore. If you bring it back, it will be scanned (xrayed like at the airport) on your way back on.
