Extra costs on a cruise

I have a bunch of newbies cruising with me in a few months, and I'm putting together a list of info and things that cost extra. What should I add to this list, or things on this list that should be changed?

 

 

Each person can bring 12 cans of soda/juice/etc. No bottles allowed.

Adults 21+ can bring 1 bottle of wine (750 ml).

Excursion in ports - price varies based on excursion

Free drinks onboard include coffee, tea, lemonade, “tap” water. Breakfast has apple, orange and blended juices.

Steakhouse dining option $40.25 (specialty dinner $35 plus tip)

Purchase items to be delivered to your cabin. Prices don’t include tax, which may be accessed.

· 12 pk water $2.99

· 6 pk canned soda $10.00

· 4 pk Bud Light bottles $24.00

· 4 pk Corona bottles $21.00

· Various 1 liter alcohol $80-100 (ex: Crown $85, Malibu $80, Jack $85) must be 21+

· Chocolate strawberries 6-$12, 12-$22

· 6” specialty cake $10.00

Beverage packages (5 day prices)

· Bubbles (unlimited soda) $34.50 (anyone can purchase)

· Cheers (15 alcoholic drinks, unlimited soda, unlimited non-alcoholic frozen cocktails) $287.22 (all adults in cabin must purchase)

Laundry service - self service $3 per wash, $3 per dry. Valet - $15 per bag, or by the piece.

Other items available to buy onboard

· T-shirts

· Souvenirs (stuffed animals, magnets, cards)

· Gold by the inch

· Alcohol (special pricing – pick up the morning of debarkation) must be 21+

· Soda/Juice $2.25

· Cocktails - approximately $10 (more$ if in souvenir cup, specialty…) must be 21+

· Internet service (varies – packages or per minute)

· Jewelry, watches, purses

· $10 store (scarves, clutches, sunglasses, beach bags…)

· Casino – must be 18+

· Bingo (usually $20)

· Arcade

· Specialty coffee house (coffees, choco covered strawberries, cakes) prices vary $2-5

· Groove for St Jude $10 (donation to St Jude, you get a t-shirt)

· Spa – costs vary based on treatments

Off the ship – bring $1 bills in order to haggle

· Souvenirs in port

Why not just give them the website info and let them search and peruse the items that are of interest to each. If you try to gather all info for so many different people you will end up leaving something off or give info that may not apply etc.

 

Why put that stress on yourself? Give them the website and let them go at it, problem of list solved, carnival already did the list for you for each category!

Thanks everyone.

 

I am coordinating a whole group of people, ranging in age 14-66. Payments are being made to me. Our "Cruise" pricing already includes our travel costs, cruise, port fees/taxes and gratuity.

 

Many have not cruised before, so they have asked for this info to help them plan extra money needed. Yes, I know they could just look at the website for some stuff.

I couldn't agree more. I put together a bunch of information for our small group of cruisers and they didn't even read it. One of them printed it out and was going to read it on the plane. Sorry too little too late. I felt like it was a big waste of my time and nobody appreciated it. Their solution was to just ask me all the time on the cruise any of their questions.

Also room service is 24 hours and free (unless you're on one of the ships rolling out the room service menu that has some pay items). If use room service don't forget to tip one who brings it a couple dollars.

 

Hot chocolate in morning is also free. Extremely good on lido.

 

You may want to list out the free eat areas for your ship and the pay areas.

 

Casino is with your sail n sign card. May want to also mention that all things on ship are charged thru card. And you can get lanyard for around neck.

 

I did something similar a few years ago when had someone older with us on their first cruise, and they were not Internet savvy.

Oh and may want to mention daily Funtimes. It will tell everything for day and which activities have a charge.

See and here I am with the OP list printed and a pen added as I read the replies lol. I too Google to find others lists but am going to make my own as well, tailored to our group cruise. Thanks to the OP for sharing and all the answers.

I do not think you'll ruin the thrill of discovery for your travelmates by providing them with info that's helpful & good to know.

Sure wish we'd have had something similar our 1st cruise.

It will save these passengers time & that's at a premium when cruising, especially the 1st time.

List the smoking areas if you have any in your group.

Food & Bar venues with ship location

Deck plans.

You're going to ruin the "thrill of discovery" for the newbies! Don't you remember YOUR 1st cruise? Let these folks discover cruising and it's joys on their own! Point them to the website, and let them have at it!

 

Aren't you the one who is always saying "get a guidebook" ad infinitum? Where's the" thrill of discovery" in that? :confused:
