deliver42 Posted December 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2015 I understand the Eurodam is going into dry dock this month. Does anyone know what's being done? Just curious, because I'm on her in May,2017.

aliaschief Posted December 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) My sister-in-law is presently on board and the Cruise Director attended their M&G and told the following. 1. All carpeting is being replaced. 2. New sound and lighting systems in Show Room At Sea. 3. Sports Bar and some of the Casino are being removed. The space will be converted to a dueling piano bar. 4. Northern Lights Disco is being replaced with the Arts Bar, to give more space to view and display art. 5. Explorers Lounge is being changed to Live From Lincoln Center, with a five piece orchestra playing old and new classical music. 6. Some, not all bathrooms will be remodeled. 7.Interactive TV's in all cabins. You will be able get movies, schedules, check your account, and maybe order room service. 8. Plus the usual painting and dry dock procedures. This is all I know and I have some questions especially in regards to dueling pianos and whether we will continue to have a traditional piano bar? One interesting note. Upon boarding my SIL was asked to participate in a survey and was given 1 hour of free internet for agreeing to doing survey. jtl513 Posted December 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 3, 2015 In a talk last week Capt Scott said that six suites were being removed and rebuilt in order to install some new (unspecified) equipment in a low deck. 7.Interactive TV's in all cabins. You will be able get movies, schedules, check your account, and maybe order room service. There is currently a page on the ship server ( logon.com, 10.8.115.82/#/ ) which gives access via your own pc or smartphone to your account, your customized itinerary showing any reservations you have, and on board activites for the day. You can also make dining reservations, but I didn't see any way to order room service.
InTheWASide Posted December 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 3, 2015 This is all I know and I have some questions especially in regards to dueling pianos and whether we will continue to have a traditional piano bar? There will be a dueling piano setup, but even in previous announcements they have said it will not always be a dueling piano venue. There will be times when only one is used... with or without accompaniment
aliaschief Posted December 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 3, 2015 Nice to know about the piano bar. Thanks. As far as the interactive TV it sounded like being able to order room service; "maybe" could be available in future upgrades to system.

Or maybe it's there now and I just didn't happen to notice it. :D You can make your own reservations for the PG, Tamarind and Canaletto, but can't reserve your own tables in the MDR. :(

I think the tv situation is all new and not part of the mobile devise part.

nikolz350 Posted December 4, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 4, 2015 We are sailing on December, 20 right after she is coming out of dry dock and will post live review with pics.
RMLincoln Posted December 4, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 4, 2015 Wow! To hear that they are installing the Live from Lincoln Center is very encouraging as the Adagio duo we had on Nieuw Amsterdam this fall was quite uninspired. This will be something worth considering when looking at future itineraries! Eurodam might just become a first choice. Thanks for info. m--
ithaca gal Posted December 4, 2015 #12 Share Posted December 4, 2015 Yes, they are extending the Piano Bar and removing some of the slot machines from the casino. Found that surprising.
emjayel56 Posted December 5, 2015 #13 Share Posted December 5, 2015 I was on the Eurodam 3 weeks ago for the 4th year in a row and can tell you it is need of some sprucing up this time. The air conditioning was not working properly, some rooms were given fans because they couldnt fix it, i had call in for maintenance for 3 days then just gave up and dealt with it. The carpets were looking rundown and some minor other stuff but definitely time for drydock for the Eurodam. Doesnt matter to me, I'm already booked on Eurodam next year and look forward to the new and improved version. Beautiful ship and the perfect size in my opinion. have a great night. maryjo I understand the Eurodam is going into dry dock this month. Does anyone know what's being done? A ship that age should not have ac problems. I had some fairly major plumbing issues.
catl331 Posted December 5, 2015 #15 Share Posted December 5, 2015 We had a problem with the room being too cold despite setting the thermostat all the way up. Called Guest Relations, and within a 1/2 hour a lady came up to measure the temp. Within 3 hours of that a maintenance man had repaired it! :):)
sue117 Posted December 6, 2015 #16 Share Posted December 6, 2015 DH and I will also be on the ship right after drydock (Dec 20th). I was going to do a live from, but I'm not sure how many live-from's are necessary. I'll play it by ear. :) 2 weeks. Can't wait!
aliaschief Posted December 6, 2015 #17 Share Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) Received another reply from my Sister-In-Laws presently aboard the the Eurodam. They have reported that many of the restaurants and bars are being remodeled. 45" TV's in all rooms and vague remodeling in Neptune Lounge? Though I was surprised about 45" TV's. Anxious to check out all the changes next October. Edited December 6, 2015 by aliaschief

Kerry&LuAnn Posted December 19, 2015 #19 Share Posted December 19, 2015 When we got off the Eurodam on December 8, crews were already tearing into the ship. Lots of work to be done in less than two weeks' time. We would be very interested in seeing photos and hearing reviews of the new-and-improved Eurodam post-drydock.
