Go to the United Airlines website and look into their car rental discounts. Do a mock rental and you'll see the code displayed while also finding a base cost for comparison with any other discounts.

Do they do anything but Budget.

Where are you renting?

 

Costco is good for North America. Autoeurope is fairly good for other locales. You can probably get a quote on the Costco website but will need a membership number to book. Try A017600 for Budget. It is a Costco discount number.

 

Never had much luck with AAA-their prices have invariably been among the highest.

 

The last few times we have rented in the US we were asked to show our Costco card.

Check out retailmenot.com (hope that's allowed) for all sorts of discount coupons. We have in the past stacked these codes on top of our discount club price that BJ's travel gives for rental cars with great success.

I'd give you my corporate codes, but…

 

Go to your favorite search engine and enter "discount codes for Avis" and "discount codes for Budget". You will get lots of hits.

 

If you are looking for cheap, go to hotwire. They have "hidden" rentals for good rates. You find out the rental agency and car after you buy, just like you do for hidden hotel rooms. I did this for a rental in San Juan - got a little Kia from Hertz for $15/day. (I wanted a small car - it was just me and I just had my little roller bag and daypack - because I drive a little car at home).

Try going thru Costco or Sam's club.

I just tried entering my town (which does NOT have an airport) and HW spit out some hot rates… You can put in a town/city, not just an airport. YMMV
