Host Hattie Posted January 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Or this one which is about the same subject Jackets and dancing The ships are well air conditioned but I have seen plenty of men dancing without jackets on both formal and informal nights. Bell Boy Posted January 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2016 If we are talking about Ballroom,Latin or Sequence, some do but the majority wouldn't even dream to. If a guy really wants to 'look the part' on the dance floor, even if their feet don't know in which direction they should be going ...better to keep a jacket on ;) Party nights, G32 and Deck Parties ......well anything goes :D
keithm Posted January 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Please can someone tell me if men are allowed to take their jackets off when dancing on both formal nights and smart casual nights?? I've seen it, but usually in G32. Most of the ball rooms were well A/C. The dancers were a bit more subdued than in G32 & didn't get too sweaty. weatherman46 Posted January 10, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Thank you for the replies. Having read though the other threads on this matter, I have decided I will take my jacket off if I am too warm or if the dance is something fast such as jive. cruiseluvva Posted January 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2016 We found crossing the Indian Ocean on occasions, the a/c has REALLY struggled to keep temperatures down.
BobBranst Posted January 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Thank you for the replies.Having read though the other threads on this matter, I have decided I will take my jacket off if I am too warm or if the dance is something fast such as jive. Many dancers chose to wear a tuxedo vest/waistcoat so that they can maintain their "formal" appearance when they remove their tuxedo jacket. However, I will confess to removing my jacket once on QM2. It was a fast Cha Cha Cha plus I wanted to show off my latest 'formal' shirt.
fantasy51 Posted January 13, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2016 While chatting to a waitress in the bar outside the dining room, she said that they are strict about dress rules in the bars and restaurants but do not expect gentlemen to keep their jackets on in the Queen's Room when dancing. Dancer Bob Posted January 16, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2016 Fantasy, I recall someone a while back commenting about dancing with someone in a sweat-soaked jacket being unpleasant, was that you?

john watson Posted January 17, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) Please can someone tell me if men are allowed to take their jackets off when dancing on both formal nights and smart casual nights?? One should be very careful about doing this sort of thing, it is precisely how the Chippendales got started.
