Champagne Cruiser Posted January 10, 2016 #55 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Thank you for the great review. We are taking the Solstice Sydney to Vancouver in April 2017. It was great to get some sneak peeks. We completed a Summit repo cruise along the Atlantic yo San Juan and had quite a bit of movement, most we had ever experienced. I brought along the pressure bands you use on your wrists and it really worked well-no motion problems and they don't make you tired.
tiller Posted January 10, 2016 #56 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Thank you so much for posting this review. My mom and I will be on the Solstice on February 2, and this is the most detailed writeup I've seen. Slightly disappointing that there's a charge for the yogurt sundaes at the Aqua Spa. Would you happen to know if the smoothies and juices there are covered under the Classic drink package?
thebutlerdidit Posted January 10, 2016 #57 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Could you explain what this dish from Tuscan Grille is? Or is this several desserts plated together?
RosieCanberra Posted January 10, 2016 #58 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Wow, wow, wow! I loved this review, thanks so much for taking the time and effort. We did the NYE 8 nighter and had a fabulous time. The Solstice is my favourite ship. We also upgraded to the Premium Package and found it excellent. Cheers Rosie
sammyboots Posted January 10, 2016 #59 Share Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) Could you explain what this dish from Tuscan Grille is? Or is this several desserts plated together? I've had that before, it's the toffee panacotta. It's a toffee desert served four ways. really yummy! Great review by the way, Luckiepuris, I very much enjoyed reading it and looking at the photos! This was the toffee panacotta - one dish but four takes on the dish! Fantastic and innovative, we loved it :)

MrsKNZ Posted January 11, 2016 #64 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Awesome review! One question though, what was the upper limit for drinks (cocktails, and beer and wine) for the premium package, that you had to pay the upcharge after? We're doing a med cruise this year, and have been getting confused between the prices with and without gratuity!
Cassicruiser Posted January 11, 2016 #65 Share Posted January 11, 2016 What a great review - thanks for posting! We are going on the exact same cruise and itinerary on 1 April so was great to read. Just one question - I am taking my elderly Mum on this cruise and she is very limited with walking - at Isle of Pines, is the beach right by the tender? Will she have to walk quite far, or do you just get off the tender and onto the beach? It looks like there is a paved area by the little markets, is that also near the beach? Thanks :)

We're doing a med cruise this year, and have been getting confused between the prices with and without gratuity! $15.50 for the premium package, anything over that and it is just the difference (i.e, a $20 glass of wine would cost $4.50 extra).:D

We're doing a med cruise this year, and have been getting confused between the prices with and without gratuity! Cruises out of Australia, the gratuity is built into the drink price. The premium package limit per drink was US$15.50 per drink.

Thanks :) At Isle Of Pines as soon as you are off the tender, you are right at the first front beach. Walk just along the paved road 1 minute and you're at the souveneir shops. One more minute walk and you're at the beach. It's a fantastic beach and cruise.

whimsy7 Posted January 11, 2016 #72 Share Posted January 11, 2016 thank you for your very detailed review and all your photographs. we were also on that Nov 26th cruise and we loved it. the food in the MDR was very good. the steaks were so delicious that I had them twice......not because of poor choices on those nights but because I enjoy a well prepared steak. we found the ice creams at the OceanView buffet to be of very good quality (for complimentary offerings). had oyster chowder at the buffet one lunch time......yummy! did you sample the hamburgers at the Mast Grill? brilliant!! we did not feel pressured to buy food/drink packages or have our photos taken during this cruise. classy cruise. Cassalou Posted January 11, 2016 #75 Share Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) Just wondering if you noticed when you were in the casino, if there were poker tables with dealers or do they have the electronic cards/dealers? I already have a cruise booked for April (with RCI) but I'm so tempted to make another booking now!
