patreke Posted January 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2016 Hi there I am hoping someone can give me a bit of advice to pass on to my mom & her friends who are travelling on the Escape on Feb 13. According to their itinerary they dock in Miami at 8am, their flight to Montreal is at noon. What is the best way for the 3 of them to get off the ship & to the airport with minimum stress. They aren't likely to carry off their bags. I have never been on NCL (considering Apr 2017 on the Epic) or Miami so I am not a lot of help. Thanks
Kingofwylietx Posted January 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) They can book a shuttle through NCL before or even on the ship. They can also hire one of the other shuttle companies directly and save some $$$. Rare BirdTravels Posted January 16, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2016 About 2 days prior to arrival, colored luggage tags will be available on the shelves next to Guest Services. Each color is for different disembarkation times. If your mom selects an early time, they can still have a breakfast in the MDR or buffet, then disembark. After collecting their luggage in the baggage hall and clearing customs, the cheapest way to MIA airport is via taxi (which are available right outside the terminal). The NCL is expensive and only drop off at the bus terminals at MIA (where the taxi will drop you off at your airline's checkin area).
murcor Posted January 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2016 When you get outside the terminal there will be people offering rides back to the airport, but go direct to the taxi area. These people will say the vehicle is leaving soon but they will try fill the van first. Taxis are lined up and waiting for passengers and go direct to the airport. *** if they select an early time to disembark and collect the luggage once off will be easy and time efficient. Rare BirdTravels Posted January 16, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2016 And,,, the taxi to the airport is a flat rate. So, there is no incentive for the driver to "take you for a ride". The driver is incentivized to get you to the airport as quickly as possible.
patreke Posted January 16, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted January 16, 2016 Thanks everyone. I'll pass that info along. They were thinking go doing the NCL transfer but I was thinking that may make things a bit tight at the airport if the shuttle waited for a full bus. NLH Arizona Posted January 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2016 Instead of the NCL transfer, where the bus might wait to be full, they should really take a taxi.
cb at sea Posted January 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2016 A cab is the least stressful, fastest way. $24 to the airport. Put their bags out the night before (keeping a carryon for the last day's clothes and stuff) and leave the ship, pick up your bags, and head to the taxi stand. Thanks The least expensive way and the easiest is to select their disembarkation time, leave the ship, grab a porter to help with luggage and then grab a cab. Using the Carnival shuttle will cost 3 times what a cab will.
